My Experience with Aloes

Just about everone is aware of Aloe vera. It is probably the most common Aloe species kept in the hobby. There are so many other species though. Anything from the standard Aloe vera, to Pink Blush. Some have smooth leaves, but others have spines on them. Hybrids are often created using different types and species of Aloe. As mentioned earlier, hybrids can even be created using a different genus.

Care is the same as Gasteria and Haworthia. Seeds are a viable way to propagate this Genus. This is how hybrids are produced. Many choose to just separate pups that grow off the mother plant. Flowers appear on very tall stalks for the size of the plant.

Aloes are widespread throughout the world. Many residing in Africa, the Arabian Peninsula, and West Asia. Although a few species have become invasive or naturalized species. Farming of Aloe vera results in a very widespread
