Every time I go on a vacation, I feel a constant fear of losing my plants!
After moving into this new apartment, maintaining a balcony garden for a year became very challenging. The balconies are very sunny, so I use shade, but that doesn't seem to be enough. Whenever I return from a few-day break, I find some plants dying or dead.
I have a watering system, well, not the automatic one but a DIY one that also doesn't seem enough.
During my last visit to my hometown, I was thinking about the conditions I would find my garden!
I lost some big plants last summer and because of anger and frustration, I didn't plant anymore. The posts are empty now.
Fortunately, I have some plants that are hanging on and after some care, they look healthy. This Kalanchoe is one of them. And it's flowering!
The second hope is this Jasmine plant. It is two years old and gave me many flowers last season. However, I found it almost dead.
After watering and cutting off the old steams it grew new ones. Doesn't it look hopeful?
This is the first winter that I didn't plant or buy any seasonal flowers. I'm going through a lot mentally and physically and this garden was not a priority for the last couple of months!
I wish I could save more plants so my balcony corner would look greener. Alas, this is life. It happens, we need to move on and be positive, right?
I had some local spinach and Petite lilies. The spinach got seeds so the plant almost died. But I will collect the seeds and plant new ones.
The lily looks good, new leaves are growing. I'm hopeful that it will also flower in the next rainy season.
My mom gave me a lot of seeds this time when I came back home. She knew how I was feeling losing all the plants so this was her way of showing love and I appreciate it.
There were periwinkle and blue butterfly pea flowers. Oh! I have so many varieties of these two flowers. I have shared the photos of them several times in HIve too. But now I have none. Also, there were cillies, mirabilis jalapa, and some other vegetable seeds.
This is the hope.
I have lost many plants, my balcony has become dusty, the pots are empty, and it looks sad. To be honest, I don't sit there anymore and spend time like I used to. But the seeds and the plants are my hope.
I'm determined to make this small corner green and colorful again!
Dropping by to say,You'll definitely have that green and blooming garden back.💚 And everything will feel alright again.☺️As the saying goes "To nurture a garden is to feed not just on the body, but the soul." 💚
By the way, I'm curious what does that Jasmin flower look like.☺️
Thanks for saying such inspirational words. I loved the quote you said. Gardening is indeed connected to the heart. I hope I can get back my peace again.
Once I get to my PC, I will share the photo the Jasmine from the previous year.
Have a great day 🌸🌿🌼
I used to have a terrace garden. It made me relax whenever I arrive home. However, my plants welted when we transferred to another house and was not able to transplant them in time. I am happy for you. Enjoy gardening !BBH
That feels awful, right? Get some small plants, they will make you feel better.
Thanks for your words. I will do my best to get back my little peace corner.
Have a good day 🌼🌿🌸
We lost our Kalanchoe due to heavy frosts and intense heat, I miss it 💔 that deep red color of its little flower was really a beauty to see, but I hope you can save as many plants as possible because they are missed when they are gone 😢
This one also blooms deep red, I love the small beauties.
Get one when you can.
Thanks for the words, I sure will add green again.
Maintaining a balcony garden must be very difficult. It's unfortunate to hear that many plants have died.
Maybe you should get plants that can handle little water. But you also don't want only cacti on your balcony.
I hope the seeds will grow into beautiful, strong plants.

It's nice that you'll still be able to take care of your garden even living in a building.
