If there's one thing I see often in the gardening community on Hive, it's the recyling of plastic bottles as growing vessels, from Venuzuela to Bali. Here, we have so many pots people can't give them away and you find them at the recyling of the huge DIY chain we have here.
The less money we have, the more I go back to things like this, making me wonder why I decided to do away with it in the first place. Probably convenience, as the more you work, the less you have to spend time coming up with creative solutions.
Saying that, been working in the garden and recycling a lot and picking stuff up for free because we're broke and you can't replace an old oven in the house with rocks and plastic bottles, but you can distract yourself from the things that need expensive fixing by fixing things in the garden with hacks haha. Like the table I made last week from the base of an old worm farm and some hardwood boards from an old ute tray.
Yes, and I've also seen the part of your Land Rover with the cable ties and the tape ^^.
Basically, I'm pretty anti-plastic, but here it's just for transport! For me, nothing can replace a good clay pot, or even better: ... in an old hollow stump !
I completely agree, the trick is to balance these DIY projects with and against the big expenses :)
Balance is everything. Plastic sucks but if cable ties can ward off another plastic purchase it's a necessary 🙈 evil 😂
