Hello everyone.
It is already middle of March. Despite several last days being rainy March was sunny and warm. With that everything in garden is starting to wake up. Greenhouse is no exception. All plants are doing good. We are harvesting plants from our greenhouse for some time now. This weekend was time for some replanting and clean up.
Everything is bigger now inside the greenhouse.
Here you can compare the photos from January and now. On the left you can see photos from January and current photo on the right.
Green onions on the sides caught up with the rest of the green onions.
Turnip is getting bigger by day. First time we are having turnip in the greenhouse. Greenhouse suits it well as leaves are so big and strong.
Lettuce is between the green onions. It is growing so well and we started to collect it last week. There is a lot of smaller lettuce around as well.
Interesting thing about lettuce is the more you chop the leaves it grows more.
At least it seems so.
These are fresh leaves and they are lettuce salad is delicious.
We eat green onions for some time now. And they are good combination with lettuce.
You slice green onions and lettuce. We add salt, lemon or apple vinegar.
And you have delicious green onion and lettuce salad.
Chard is doing good.
On the each side more lettuce and green onions were added later. Now they grew big and almost caught up with the first planted green onions and lettuce.
I can say that green onions are almost same.
Warm weather suits green onions very well. The lettuce on the left side has more curly leaves while ones on the right side are not curly.
This is right side. Here maybe there is a less daylight in the morning but it does not affect plants so much.
Left and right side.
Interesting thing happened with this garlic.
Maybe ground was harder then on other parts so it grew above the ground.
You can see the roots.
As I said we did some replanting this weekend. Since there is so much lettuce around you can replant them and put on places where there is no or less lettuce.
If there is too much lettuce at one place it can rot.
Lettuce is easy to take out and you replant them where ever you like.
You fill empty places and now lettuce have plenty place to grow.
This year we got some strawberries and decide to plant some in the garden.
It is first time that we plant them in the garden so we will see how greenhouse suits them .
And now we come to the marigolds. There have several pots of marigolds around so we decided to put some pots inside the greenhouse so they grew faster due to warmer temperature inside.
Marigolds last long in autumn and these marigolds dried in the pots. The are full of seeds. Stem is removed and seeds are spread in the pot.
Now you can dig and just shuffle them around with your hands.
Water them and when they grow you can replant so many marigolds from these pots.
We put three big pots of marigold seed inside the greenhouse.
Lets see how they do.
That is all for this update on greenhouse in March. All plants are doing good for now. It is good to see them grow nicely.
