Hello everyone.
It is almost middle of the August and it is very hot. These days good shadow is best place to be at.
First #gardenjournal in the month of August.
Except for the greenhouse which needs daily work done (opening on time, giving water and collecting vegetables) other plants in the garden dont need so much constant care.
Fruit trees are doing good. More and more fruits are ripening. Ten days ago we started to gather first melons. We have different types of melons for everyones taste. Also there are watermelons but they need more time to be ready to eat.
Pears, apples and other fruit trees are doing well. Today we collected some of our pears.
Zucchinis, tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers are looking good.
Melons.
Since I was kid I liked melons very much. There are several different types of melons in our garden but my favorite is ones that crack when they are ready to pick.
We started picking the melons ten days ago.
Some melons are more yellowish or orange and they are round. These melons dont crack and they can last longer after you pick them. I assume these are more commercial ones since you can see them in markets.
This is the round one that does not crack.
And here we have my favorite melon type. They are sweet and so delicious. Some of them can be dry (they have nick name "chokers").
You can see crack that are sign that they are ready and ripen.
When you check the garden and see melons like this you know it time for melon. You cant make mistake when choosing melons. And these melons smell so good as well.
Pears.
This morning we picked some of our pears. These pears are so soft and when they fall off the tree they crack and brake. When wind blows many of them fall off. So today we picked some of them. We hand picked some and the ones on the upper branches we used plastic bottle and long stick (it is easy and fast to make - and to collect pears without falling off).
We picked around 25 kilos today. It was quite hot. We did some picking and resting in between and eating some pears of course.
There are more pears on the trees.
Cucumbers
Cucumbers , tomatoes and peppers are in the greenhouse.
They grow very well and they are so good in salad. Also shredding them with box grinder and adding into yogurt is perfect for these hot days.
Again one more that is big.
600 grams for this one.
Tomatoes
We consume them daily. In the greenhouse we collect them each day.
Zucchini
Zucchini are doing well. We pick as they grow them use them later. Yesterday my mom made us breakfast using our Zucchinis. Zucchini fritters are very delicious.
I will add down ingrediens for the Zucchini fritters.
Zucchini fritters
My mom used two Zucchini, two eggs and flour. And you add salt and other spices to your liking.
So two Zuchinni.
Two eggs. Eggs from our chicken.
You use box grater to shred the Zucchinis.
Add eggs and flour to get this texture.
And you fry them.
Delicious Zucchini fritters.
Also sometimes we can have Zucchini fritters for the lunch or as snack as well (maybe sometimes late night snack).
Garden looks good overall. Will try to do some follow ups on our garden.
