In the last few days, flowers have formed on our fruits and vegetables. The sugar snap peas are just about ready to harvest from the looks of it. They are doing very well, the shade cloth has been removed from them and they started climbing very quickly up the trellis fencing I built for them.
We are waiting for them to plump up more but soon enough those peas are ready.
With around ten sugar snap pea vines growing we hope to have many peas by the summer time.
Since its vining, it grabs the fence and climbs its way up.
They have little white flowers that form, they are self pollinating so no need for insects to visit them.
The greens are doing well in the bed next to the peas, I started them last year and kept them going under lights until this spring when I planted them.
In the bed next to the peas and greens we have some wild peas growing and peppers.
They seem to be growing quite slowly. I will put the shade cloth back up to help them recover.
Seems the peppers in that bed need more cover too, they are a little more yellow than the ones covered by the shade cloth. So I think they need some cover for awhile again.
I have a few beds with shade cloth and peppers, so having some covered and others not helps me to see how they handle it.
The Trinidad scorpion pepper plants are holding on. Hopefully they will start growing more, they have not done much since planting.
Under the clay there is garden soil, its hard to say if I used enough. Next year I can always add more if they struggle again this year.
The cantaloupe plants have started to flower, no fruits showing up yet but we hope to see them soon.
Ginger is coming up in this bed, we had it covered by shade cloth but the plants were starting to touch the cloth so I moved it off.
The brussels sprouts are not doing much. Hoping they grow those stalks that have the tasty bits on it.
The lettuces have been getting bigger. We planted some green and red types, soon we can start eating them.
We took the shade cloth off them a few weeks ago and they seem to be doing good.
Some of the tomato beds are doing better than others. This one is recovering, we had some shade cloth that was too short not covering them well. So the sun was getting through and burning them. Now we put on some better sized shade cloth they seem to be recovering.
I will put cages on them once they get stronger.
One of the beds is doing very well, and now they are forming flowers.
Having the cages on them now so they can grow as fast as they want. Its hard to get it on once they get big.
With a bunch of flowers its only a matter of time until we have fruit on these four tomato plants.
One of the flowers has already started to open.
These seem the most happy of the all the beds with tomatos.
Another bed has tomatoes already forming.
More flowers more fruit.
So small yet producing fruit, hopefully the plant gets bigger.
The swiss chard was the most recently planted, we just uncovered the shade cloth and they seem to be doing alright.
My cannabis plants are bushing out quite a lot. Probably four feet tall now.
With their big holes and more garden soil used I think these should do really well.
With the hot summer days on the way, I need to keep an eye on them and see how they handle it. Though I think they will do well, being a South African strain.
The beds have been holding up well.
And we got most of the horse show beds filled, just one I need to add more dirt to but these two in the picture are filled with cantaloupe, tomato, broccoli, and cauliflower. Some of those may be cold weather crops, oops.. did not realize that until after we started some of them.
More cantaloupe in these beds, they seem to be doing good. We just uncovered them.
The spinach plants have new leaves forming, hopefully they grow more too soon.
They look a little yellow on the old leaves, but the new ones at the middle look more happy. Maybe I should trim off the yellow ones.
Many potatoes planted too, some golden and red types.
I will let these grow until the autumn and then collect the spuds under the soil.
Its all coming along, we go out there every day to see if they need water. Sometimes the rains help but its been pretty dry the last month so we are hoping for more soon. In the mean time I have my watering solution and its working for us.
I do not know how hot it gets there but here in Florida in the summer it gets too hot for Brussel sprouts, broccoli, swiss chard, and even tomatoes maybe keeping the shade cloth on them will help, that is if they begin to look like they are struggling.
We can not grow much in the summer other than okra, sweet potatoes and watermelons.
Your garden is looking good.
Oh damn, yeah we may have planted some of the wrong stuff at the wrong time of year. Next year we will pay closer attention to that.
Yeah that shade cloth has been helping out a lot. We took it off one of the beds, the plants started yellowing so we put it back on. And now they are turning more green again. So I think it is helping out a lot.
Thanks
yeah, the shade cloth might help with the fall crops and you are welcome.
Here among all the vegetables I like the tomato most. Thank you for sharing.
Ah nice, I am the most hopeful for the tomatoes. Really want to make some tasty salsa this year.
No problem
I was going to comment that the peas looked great.. and then I saw the cannabis plants..
Those are looking like the bomb and still another full month of veg.. I might need to visit this year 😆.. looking great 👍
Haha yeah man those cannabis plants are monsters.. Oh cool did not know when they would flower. I guess I will start watching for buds forming in a month or so.
Your garden is awesome. I can’t wait to have a set up like this.
Thanks man, yeah its pretty nice to have raised beds.
Looking really good! Those snap peas look nice and the Swiss Chard look like the weeds I have growing all over my flower beds! Do you guys have any local farmers markets you are going to try to sell your stuff at once it comes in or is it all for personal consumption? The veggies of course!
Thanks much, yeah those sugar snap peas are ready to eat now. We have been taking a half dozen or so each day off the vines now.
Yeah they have farmers markets but its pretty competitive so may not be worth our time. It would be a lot of work for little money.
So we plan on growing for our personal consumption.
That is cool!
perfect work !👍👍👍
ah thank you
How great to see your plants grow, you have done a great job from the beginning and that makes the growth of the plants successful, the peas as well as the tomato plants are having great growth, I loved the trellis to hold the stems firm of tomato plants. I hope you are soon enjoying exquisite vegetables and greens.
have a great dayGood morning dear friend @solominer
Thanks.. Glad you enjoyed seeing how I made supports for the sugar snap peas.
I hope they all come out tasty too, you have a good day too.
I think the garden becomes more beautiful the next post you shared because the next post you have, the plants will become adult and ready to harvest.😊 Looking forward for it.😊
I hope so, every post I hope they will get bigger and better.
Wow, what an amazing garden. I love how you've thought about each plant's needs. Those sugar snap peas and tomatoes must be a joy to watch grow. Can't wait to see the harvest would love to see blogs of that at that time 🥰🥰
Hehe yeah those tomatoes and sugar snap peas look like winners.
Ah yeah we will do more posts when we start harvesting.
Yessssssss ❤️❤️❤️❤️💯💯💯 can't wait to see them dear friend
I saw it near the road ,is it the same as yours ? it looks the same 😊
I think you shared this picture with my last time, no idea what it is.. Try an app like plantnet to ID it.
Muy hermosa presentación..
Thanks
Incredible setup you got. I know, I keep saying that. I'm gonna build a retaining wall soon with your method.
Thank you, oh cool. I hope it works out for you.
Your plants look very good, the growth is noticeable, thank you very much for sharing this garden updateSee your photographs @solominer they remind me of when I helped my grandfather in his garden
Oh thats nice, yeah everything is coming along nicely. No problem, glad you enjoyed my post.
Lovely!!! you made me miss the days when i used to grow my vegetables too, now i live in an apartment and i dont have space for it :(
your tomatoes plants loooks so healthy and clean!! good job man.
it is legal to grow cannabis in there?
Oh well I hope you get the opportunity to grow them again.
Yes in Virginia I can grow up to four plants legally as an adult.
How fascinating to watch a plant grow up... especially when vines grab the fence and climb up 😀😍
Hehe yeah I like all the climbers like the sugar snap peas.
Ver los frutos de la naturaleza me genera paz y placer. Me gusta saber que la naturaleza nos regala su preciado regalo para nosotros alimentarnos. Increíble y buenas fotos
Thanks, I am really looking forward to all the fruits that should pop up soon.
Those are the beds where you layered it with burt trees, and other stuff?
Yep those are the beds.. did a hugelkultur
Yes that's it! I stumbled on a IG page of some people doing it in Alaska, or the PNW somewhere. Not sure. But there plants looked amazing!
Great Work as always!
I just can't find the pumpkin, maybe you still have some space for pumpkins and would like to take part in the Hive Pumpkin World Championship. However, pumpkins would definitely look great on the red soil.😉 i really like the colour.
Many Greetings
Thanks... Hah oh okay, maybe.
Yep all my soil around here is red.
You could even use the slogan:
hive to the moon, and soon a pumpkin on mars
The colour of the soil really fascinates me, it looks like something from another world and more intense than the pictures they show us of Mars.
Take care
I thought the first picture is an Okra plant (lady's finger). You have a lovely garden. I Love it👍
Oh.. hope those are sugar snap peas.. There is some orka in the second picture I believe.
So I've been reading and enjoying all these crop planting and I've noticed that some of them don't have cage or covers.
It seems animals are not in those bushes to disturb those plants.
In my part of the word, we put a fence to prevent animals from passing through. The only challenge we have are bed and animals like squirrels which can climb anything
Yeah some plants do not want any cover, and indeed we do not have any big animals as my garden is fenced in.
Hah yeah squirrels are annoying around here too.
Squirrels are always squirrels 😅
It's okay👍
Your garden looks very beautiful
I’m fascinated about the beauty
Nice one!
Thanks much its really coming along
I like the renewal of this plant, the tomatoes are already producing fruit. My area also has a lot of tomato plants.
Oh very nice, we hope they come out really tasty.
Nice garden all details about all plants look good. Tomatoes and the peas are doing very well. I think soon you will harvest your vegetables. good luck with your harvest soon :)
Thank you, yep some of them are coming along quite nicely.
