Autumn green house update

in HiveGardenlast year (edited)

We have now had the entire growing season for the wild flowers by the green house to flourish and get big. And sure enough they did, almost as tall as the green house its self in some spots. Next year I plan on cutting them back more, but I want to give the perennials the best chance of survival this winter so I am keeping them tall for now.

I wonder how much these plants growing up high affects the green house. It still gets very hot inside as the roof is still exposed.

To the side you cannot even see inside the green house.

The front looks very pretty, with rows of wild flowers coming up the sides. I really like how that came out.

With so many flowers there are constantly insects visiting them.

The reason I got so many wild flowers established by the green house was to help with stopping erosion. The pad that was built for the green house had to be leveled out. So one side is a little higher than the other. So by adding wild flowers all around I hope it locks in the soil.

The back of the green house is growing back in well, I had to get back there to run some wires for the water misters so it got a little trampled down.

Even though I disturbed the wild flowers behind the building, it still grows outwards and has taken over the battery enclosures once again. I may need to extend my solar panel wires so I can get it a little further away.

The shed:

Before I had the large 5000 square foot workshop I had this shed. It stored everything we did not want to keep in the houses. We still store stuff in there, and good to have for stuff I do not want to keep in the workshop.

Just like with the foundation of the green house the shed needed some care to stop erosion as well. So many wild flowers are grown around there.

There was a space next to the shed, where a previous building once stood.. Many decades ago. I cleared the debris and smoothed out the area. The native grasses quickly took over the area.

I did not till up the area, so the grasses quickly moved in.

The back of the shed has filled in nicely as well.

Since this building is not see through like the green house the plants have not grown as vigorously.

Still all and all it completely filled in the foundation areas that were prone to erosion so glad that worked.

The areas next to the wild flowers is all grass, closest to the house is native and further away is our mix of clover, orchard grass, rye and oats.

Looking back inside the green house I have a few plants that were kept from the seed trays we started. Some tomato plants, peppers and some kale. We will try to keep them going this winter but its not a top priority. They will need to come back inside when its too cold. Not sure when exactly though.

Even if the green house was not fully productive this year, the plants grown all around have done their job. Next year I will give them a good cutting back, but for this year I will just let them thrive. Soon their growing season will be over and should die back to the ground. Some of them are annuals and probably will not return. But I hope some do and excited to see what comes back in abundance next year.

Greetings my dear friend.

I think I once mentioned in one of your previous publications that in a house I had in Venezuela, I had the front of the house full of these colorful flowering plants, in the distance when I arrived at my house was very nice to see both colors, what caught my attention is that they grew in abundance, to such an extent that we had to constantly cut them because it was impressive how they reproduced.

I think it was so colorful that if one day I arrived very drunk it was impossible not to know which was my house hahahaha, yes there were plenty of those little flowers.

Hey bud.. Yeah I remember you mentioning all your pretty flowers.

Hehe yeah they indeed do require a lot of cutting.. And I could see that.. they grow so fast if you do not see them day to day you may not even think they are yours.. lol

It's incredible how your wildflowers have not only beautified the area but also helped with erosion control. The efforts with the greenhouse and its surroundings show how nature can surprise us in its growth patterns.

I am following you from now on @solominer =D

Yeah it is nice when they do both, having flowers around have been quite the treat... oh nice thanks!

WOW! Such a wonderful place 😍

much appreciated :-)

Hi, great job to stop the erosion, your greenhouse is beautiful just like the flowers, have a nice day.👍👍👍

Yep it is quite important.. aww thanks bud hope you do too.

Excellent photos of wild flowers, my friend. Some of those flowers were in the village where I live and they are an ideal place for bees to visit!

I hope you can prevent erosion 100%. This is a really serious issue.

Thanks bud, oh cool yeah I think these are a pretty common variety. I see them in other peoples gardens as well. Indeed the bees love them, everytime we visit them there are tons of bees and butterflies on them.

I think we have solved the erosion issue on the green house, as long as the wild flowers come back again next year.

I love that greenhouse. It is actually one of my dreams, to build a greenhouse.

Oh cool, well hope you get to build one eventually.

Your pasture and greenhouse are coming along nicely. Seedlings ... we are heading into winter atm. Where are you located?

Yep those seedlings are not gonna make it much longer... its going to be freezing in the next few days.

Thank you, I am in the South East United States in the middle of Virginia.

Everything is going very well my friend, including the greenhouse, your work is strong but very decisive and moving forward for a good future, I appreciate you very much friend @solominer . You have consumed black coffee as they call it in Venezuela Guayoyo, today I made a publication about it, in my youth when I worked in the countryside in Venezuela I consumed it a lot and it relaxed me. Successes.

Thanks much, hopefully it will all pay off.

I drink coffee yes, but not sure if I have had the kind you are referring to.

Every morning I take mildly roasted coffee (with the most caffeine) and run it through a percolator. Then when done I blend it up with some unsalted butter, its really tasty and makes for a good cream.

Hehe yeah I love my coffee too.

First person brother @solominer that I hear that adds a little butter to their coffee, each with their own wisdom. Thank you for keeping an eye on my posts. I wish you much success in your agricultural work and in Hive. Greetings from Venezuela.

Beautiful wildflowers! They certainly did the job well.

Thanks! I think so too

Lovely shots bud

thanks a lot man
