I would like help from the Hive community to help me decide what direction to go with these plants. I set up a poll, so please vote if you think I should keep them or start fresh with new seeds. I will wait until the results by end of week to decide next steps. I have seen plants do amazing things by healing themselves, but I do not want to be overly hopeful for plants that may not make it.
About a week ago I wrote about my experience with some new soil for my pots. They were full of gnats, I no longer see them as I think I have gotten rid of them all from the dirt. But while I was dealing with them they attacked my cannabis seedlings. Now I have some plants that are growing very slowly. I no longer see gnats in the soil or flying around, so I made great progress treating the dirt, and I think it will be fine to use for new seedlings. But it is hard to say if these will recover from such an insect attack.

This cannot be blamed on the genetics, having gnats can be a big problem and greatly affect plants. I am sure if they were not a problem with the soil I recently got they would be thriving by now.
Since a week ago I do see new growth, just not very fast.
Their color miss or miss, two look very green and happy. The other two are slightly yellow. So I worry they will all just start yellowing with time.
These plants are no more than 2-3 inches. They should be many times that size by now, so that is why I am worried.
If I did not see any new leaf growth I would call it for sure and pull them up. But since I do see progress being made, I am now hesitant to remove them.
I have to keep in mind how many months it will take to start over, and where I would expect to be harvesting by then. If I put new seeds in the ground next week, I can expect an harvest by march or maybe even april. So I do not want to wait much longer to decide as I am hoping to start my next outdoor cannabis grow in late April. So I want to be able to wrap up one grow. Then start another shortly after.
Another thing I did wrong was over watering the seeds, now they are getting water between every 5-7 days. And they seem to be doing better that way.
So I am going to put up a poll, and let the Hive community decide if I should start over with fresh seeds or to keep going with what I have here and hope for a miracle. And as the point of no return approaches in the next few weeks, I will have to stick with them or get rid of them to keep to my planting schedule for next year. I really hate pulling up live plants, but I am just not sure how much of recovery I can expect from seedlings damaged by gnat larva.

This can happen with tomato plants as well....one of the major problems with growing any plant is over watering and gnats as well.
However since there is new growth on these plants and it looks healthy...you may see quite an improvement in just another day or so....if not then I would indeed start over.

Hey there, yes we actually had that problem over the summer. we were over watering the tomatoes.. but once we reduced the watering they started to do much better.
True, I need to keep an eye on that new growth and see how much it improves day by day. thanks for the input.
I did indoor grow once and still have set up the whole thing but there has been water damage so needs work. Gnats where a huge problem and someone recommended adding fans. I didn't add fans but I did take the ac ducts and constructed more ducts that came from the ceiling to the floor so the air would blow upwards. The ac I have is one that uses water to cool the air through some "filters" called "Paja" in my native tongue.
I'll show it later when I get home.
But the air flow kept those gnats at bay. Due note that I kept this running 24/7 which in turn not only kept the gnats away but also added humidity. I aim to reduce the velocity but that requires tweaking the AC machine a bit.
With the lamps I had it added heat and this there was some sort of equilibrium with the two. I would love to have something to regulate the humidity but not enough funds for that. All in due time.
Another thing you can do to get rid of them is add some repellent. Sunflowers if your outside works great or mint. Other than that, there is something you can spray that can be with all natural ingredients too that I forget. Basically take a cloth and spray that and wipe the leaves with it.

Oh good idea on the airflow, I have fans but they only run when the lights are on. Maybe having them go all the time would make a difference.
I run a humidistat, with a target of around 70% the product is called "Inkbird Humidity Controller" and you can find them on Amazon.
Between using misquito bits and the fly paper it seems I have gotten them under control. Seeing less and less on the fly tape every time I replace it.

It's a shame what has happened with your plants, and to be honest I haven't seen much change from the last time, it even looks more deteriorated, I'm worried about the yellowing of the leaves, and it's likely to happen with the rest, so my answer is that you have to start again so as not to waste more time.

Miracles can always happen. I've seen that a lot in the past year. I say stick with them and see what happens.

For the future hopefully this plant is better, brother @solominer, for this cannabis plant you must really understand it what are the causes of pests that attack this plant what is this excess fertilizer or not enough, this is a test for you to take care of this wonderful plant, hope that for the next few days this plant recovers and grows fresh

First of all have you learnt the reason why it was damaged at the first place, like what are your mistakes and what you should avoid doing so as to prevent futher damage. If only you can get a separate pot and plant a fresh one there then follow what was learnt from the first at the same time trying to recover the old plant that would be better, putting all eggs in one basket is a risky business what if the old one did not make it after trying so hard to recover it.
Yeah I may just start fresh, going to wait a few more days and then decide.

In my opinion you should continue with them, these are very wise plants. Please take your time and talk to them, I'm sure they will appreciate you doing so, and they will also let you know what is happening to them. Talk to them, nothing happens, no one will see you and believe me, you will be giving them a very important "extra".
I bet that if you do it, at the very least it will be an amazing experience, and I sense that it will be a very beautiful harvest.

Ah I have heard about that, talking to plants and playing music.. sounds like an interesting idea.

Birds
Birds chirp early in the morning, but that effect o"wakes up" the plants to prepare for the sunlight to come. So adding harmonic music before the lights go on would be great.

Your soil may just be a little too ‘hot’ for the seedlings. If you start over use some basic soil mix with less nutes.
on the other hand I’m sure if you just water them with plain water over the next couple weeks they will adjust and start to take off.
With those 2 options in mind, go with the flow, but go ahead and start germinating as a just in case scenario.
So a few weeks ago I tested the soil for NPK. None of it was in excess, was all quite depleted. Indeed I have gone back just to giving them water with bti in it to kill fungus gnats.. hoping they recover soon.

Yellowing on plants is usually a lack of nitrogen, I would give them miracle gro once a week and see if it helps, you could go ahead and start new seeds and if these don't take off from the MG, you have seeds/plants ready to go. but I think they will come out of it. Good luck
Well I was giving them a nitrogen rich liquid fertilizer but it seems they were not doing anything.. so I am back to giving just water until I see them improve.. I think the yellowing was from over watering them while the roots were damaged...

It often happens that things like you are doing now, many factors cause some plants to be fertile and some of them are a little yellow, I prevent it from plants whose leaves are yellowing like lack of calcium, and it can also be that the soil needs to be sprinkled with dolomite lime before the planting period to prevent the acidity level of the soil, and my young plants after doing these two ways the condition is getting better my friend, You need to try it 🙏☺
Ah well hopefully they recover soon, I was giving them all the right nutrients but seems the gnats really did a number on them.
These tiny plants are desperately in need of nitrogen. A lack of nitrogen will slow down their growth and will cause the leaves to turn pale (yellow). I would advise you to add horn shavings, fresh grass cuttings, stinging nettle manure and compost.
The addition of potassium is always of benefit in the case of mosquito infestation. Wood ash and rock flour can often work wonders as well.
You will need to check the condition of the soil at the moment. Only then should be adding any of these be considered: The main nutrients are nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, and calcium — plants require these in relatively high quantities. Trace nutrients such as iron, manganese, molybdenum, zinc, silicon, and boron are needed in small amounts by plants, but are still important.

I vote for Go, because I have seen plants suffering from growth from such attacks and it will be better to go ahead with new seeds.

Yeah it would but I also do not want to lose a grow season from messed up seeds.
New leaves apparently shows some kind of growth, I would suggest you let it be a few more days and watch how it goes.
