I just harvested 7 lbs of crabapples. You can use them in baking much like apples. Who knew 🤷♂️ Anyway it was the only fruit tree I have that is producing. The rest are too young.

Oh yes and you can make membrillo from them too... Or wine. With enough sugar one can do anything with them. I planted it as it reminded us of England.
Wine?! Well, yes, as you say with sugar. Anything. So what does a crabapple taste like? The flowers are stunning! But I've never tasted the fruit
Very tart! Lip puckeringly so. But very high in pectin. Like an apple that hasn't learnt to be polite.
