My 15-year-old cactus started flowering in mid-November and it is still putting out new buds. I imagine I will have some blossoms for Christmas even though it is a Thanksgiving Cactus. ♥
The plant's branches are getting very long, and I wonder if I should cut them back to a shorter length. Last year, one large portion broke off due to its weight, and I'm a little nervous that it might happen again. Do you have any thoughts?
Until next time, this is Sunscape

Hi, it's been a while! Here in Sweden we call it November cactus, which is available in white like I have, it has got studs!
Yes, mine is also. November cactus but for some reason likes to bloom till the end of every year. Then it does again in spring. I would love to have a white one.
I leave mine. If they break off, and sometimes they do, I put the piece in water. They almost never get planted again, as I have 4 huge cactus. Two of them are flowering now also.
I did root a few that fell off but I did lose a huge part of it last year and now it is heavy-laden on one side. I should trim it to be safe.
Yes, if it's that lopsided, it could tip over and really be damaged.
The flowers of the cactus looks so much like that of the hibiscus, very beautiful in this vibrant red.
Beautiful cactus! I will try to get one plant too!
Well I would only prune it after it stops flowering. That plant looks beautiful
Thank you.
The colour of the cactus is so pleasing to the eyes and would make a very beautiful bouquet.
