Potting Rooted Cuttings - by Sunscape

Three weeks ago or perhaps longer I trimmed back some of houseplants. After a couple of weeks in water all the cuttings have rooted nicely.

The Fiddle Fig needed to be potted so I purchased a bag of Miracle Gro mix to pot all the cuttings.

I only had one small pot available since I can't get into the potting shed with the deep snow. I found this one in the garage so it will have to do temporarily.

It will be interesting to see how these cuttings grow, as this is the first time I have done this with a Fig.

The leaves are nice and green so I'm hopeful it will take.

I saved the Fushia plants from last summer and have been pinching them back routinely. I decided to try and root them also.

I was actually quite surprised when I started to see tiny white roots forming. I did not put anything into the water to facilitate the rooting process.

I carefully placed them around the pot and lightly pressed the soil into place. I buried the stems deep enough that they should handle the transplanting. I look forward to seeing how the Fushia preforms this summer. The hummingbirds enjoyed the nectar from it last year.

I had a larger plant that was purple and pink, so I took some cuttings of that Fushia also. They are currently in water, and I will do the same when they have rooted.

I am trying to get some Rosemary cuttings to root in water, but I don't think it is going to happen. I should have used a rooting hormone with them instead. I planted some seeds but have not had any emerge to date. I hope I don't have to purchase plants this year. Last year I had 6 plants that were prolific and had a lot of Rosemary to dry.

That's this week's update concerning plants and gardening. I am holding off on seeding any more trays for another week or so due to the weather. How about you?
