What do you think about having a green tectonic in your house without taking the large area to do that? The architecture for little house is generally more difficult to set up the greenery than the large one.
I have noticed this field when the covid 19 spreaded around the world. The social isolation and the lack of nature made spirit of human go down a lot. Therefore, spending a small area to create the small greenery in our main house is a crucial part in building.
In my article today, I would like to introduce some ornamental plants which are very popular and in request in my country from that time till now.
P/s: All my pictures in this article are taken from my friend’s garden. He is a enthusiasm person and has a truly love to nature. I have asked him to use these pictures for writing as well.
The first one: Monstera deliciosa.
- Scientific name: Monstera deliciosa
- Origin: South America, Central America, Caribbean.
- Character recognition: Monstera deliciosa has split-leaf with the heart-shaped form on its leaves. This is a climbing plant with the height of 5 metres in several years of growing.
Generally, Monstera deliciosa is known as the common plant used to decor in many indoor spaces and outdoor area of hotel, restaurant, accommodation and so on. This plant thrives strongly in the humid and warm weather, under the shade of the wooland or big trees. Therefore, the best conditions to grow and care it are: growing under the eaves or in the shade of trees where there is the light good enough for its growing, the idealized temperature is about 20 degree celcius in the well- draining soil with the average amount of fertilizers. If it is in contact with the light directly all day, the foliage will be destroyed, and cause the decrease of its lush growth.[Source]

I am growing this one at my balcony. Though the weather of Ho Chi Minh city does not fit for it, I have tried to put it under the shade and water 1 time per day. Hopefully it can get acquainted with the hot weather in my area.
The second one: Alocasia Frydek (Alocasia hybrid)
- Scientific name: Alocasia frydek
- Family: Aroid
- Origin: all over the world.
With more than 80 species, Alocasia is one of them which is very popular for indoor decor or garden. Their growth is strong in the tropical and semitropical climate. Alocasia Frydek grows well in the degree of 18 – 28 celcius, indirect sunlight, well moisture condition. The characteristic to regconize it is about the leave: The young glossy lime-green leaves grow white veins in the center to the border as the spine. When it get more mature, the leaves will turn into the velvety black leaves.
To pay attention: Oxalic acid is contained in the leaves and trunk, so keep out of reach of children. [Source]
The third one: Calathea 'medallion
- Scientific name: Calathea Roseopicta Medallion
- Family: Prayer-plants
Calathea medallion is known as one of the tropical plants and a great indoor tree to grow. The special characteristic of its is about the large dark green leaves mixed the white veins in the center and the border. The underneath of leaves are red-purple color as the burgundy.
If this plant is grown in the available condition such as higher humidity, indirect light, well-drained soil, 18-24 degree celcius temperature and so on, it can reach up to 60cm and develop the leaves with the propagation at the root.
It is quite easy to carry out the multiplication by separating. Grower can divide it with a few part of root intact and the trunk then grow it into other pots. [Source].
