Miraculous Uses of Aloe Vera!

Namaste!

You all must be aware of aloe vera. If there are plants in our house then there is aloe vera among them and if you don't have it in your house then I think after reading this blog you will definitely bring an aloe vera plant in your house. 🪴

I have done this activity many times earlier as well and every time its result has been amazing. So now the second half of February has started and in the last few weeks, winter has been replaced by scorching heat. Although even now a little cold is felt in the early morning and late evening but the weather remains very hot throughout the day. Now if we who mostly live in the shade i.e. inside the houses are feeling so much heat, then it is obvious that the plants must also be feeling the same.

Although some plants like to have full sunlight, they also need water and nutrients as they are essential for their growth.

So the first thing I do in early and mid summer is to look for Aloe Vera plants that have excessive growth or whose lower leaves have become large and thick as you can see in the 2 plants shown above and below.

After that, I cut off the extra growth (new baby aloe vera plants) and the lower biggest and thickest leaves of those plants so that firstly, they flourish better for the next few months and secondly, the other plants get the biggest benefit from these leaves. I will show you how!

Firstly, I cut the extra growth of Aloe Vera and collected it at one place here.

Then I cut the new plants into 2 parts of about 1 to 1.5 inches and the big leaves into 3 to 4 parts. If you want, you can use them whole as well, but by cutting them into pieces, firstly their surface area increases, which makes the process of converting them into compost faster and secondly it also becomes easier to use them in plants.

Here you can see how I am cutting them. Their size does not matter much, just that 1 to 1.5 inches size can be easily used in every kind of pot, big or small, that is why I cut them like this.

You might not know it, but Aloe Vera contains 75 potentially active constituents including Vitamin A, C, E, B12, Folic Acid, Choline, Various Enzymes, Calcium, Chromium, Copper, Selenium, Magnesium, Manganese, Potassium, Sodium, Zinc, Sugars, Hormones, and a lot of water which not only helps in maintaining the moisture in your plants but also supports their vigorous growth. 🪴🥬🫑🌳🌻🌽

So after cutting and chopping I loosened the soil of some of my most sun loving plants and then covered the top surface of those plants with a layer of these Aloe Vera pieces.

Seeing them like this, you must be thinking that these pieces have covered the entire pot, so how will these plants be watered now and when will they decompost without any covering. Well, it does not matter if the pot is full because right now there is a lot of water in them, so their size is also big, but as they shrink, space will be created in the pot.

And water will be given to them twice a day from the top. Apart from all those nutritional benefits, this upper layer of aloe vera will also protect the roots of the plant from burning due to direct sunlight and the water inside it will also maintain moisture in the plants.

Even if the temperature rises in the next few weeks, I will not worry about these plants anymore, but there are many more plants in my garden that need a shield like this and I will do another round of this same activity for them in the next few days. Till then take care of yourself and your plants. ✌️😊

I hope you liked my gardening and Phone Photography!😊
