It's Hard To Let Go! Selling My Honda Shadow VT750. God I'll Miss This Bike.

I spent the morning getting the Honda started. It was cold and rainy. The battery had gone dead over the winter. The first start of the season is always the toughest. Threw the charger on it and after a little tinkering it started right up!

I've currently got three motorcycles. This Honda 750 pictured. The DR650 and the Chinese Dual Sport I bought new in 2018. One of these has to go and sadly it will be the Honda.

The next warm dry day we have I'll get some fresh gas in the tank, give it a bit of a tune-up, apply some wax and detailing and get ready to sell.

I don't know what it is about motorcycles and computers but I get attached to them. I can let most things in my life go easily. That's not the case with motorcycles and computers.

I'm really conflicted about selling this motorcycle. I've always considered it a trophy from the 2017 bull run. The morning I bought this bike one of my shitcoins spiked over night. I woke up to a 100 X at least. I closed the position then went out and bought this.

At the time, I thought I'd never sell it. 3 motorcycles later, a little hearing loss, and a LOT of lower back pain later, I've changed my mind. It's a lot of work maintaining 3 motorcycles. Plus there's insurance, yearly registration, inspection. Then add in the price of tires, gas, oil. Motorcycle riding can turn into an expensive hobby.

On top of that I barely ride it. I pull it out on the weekends and ride it around town. Maybe meet a few pals at the local watering hole. It's not a comfortable bike for distance riding. It does draw attention though. No matter where it's parked passersby will often stop and look at it. I get complimented on it all the time at gas stations or in parking lots.

I think I want to start focusing fully on my dual sports. This will be one less expense that takes away from all that.

I find the DR much more comfortable to ride. It's much quieter. Maybe not as sexy, but it gets the job done. It's turning out to be the perfect bike for distance riding too. I can sit in the seat all day and remain pretty comfortable.

In the great scheme of things, if the Honda was just a little comfier, I'd definitely keep it around. I just can't see paying insurance and annual registration plus the yearly maintenance for a motorcycle I'm maybe taking out a couple times a month if I'm lucky.

I thought about keeping it. I've heard there is affordable collectors insurance that I can buy. Sadly, the last time I rode it before I put it away for the season, it was running a little rough. That's what happens when motorcycles aren't rode regularly. I'd rather see someone get it, that will appreciate the motorcycle for what it is and give it the care and attention it deserves.

Hopefully I can find it a good home soon!

It's always hard to get rid of something like that, but it needs to be used and someone else may find it more comfortable than you, or just not care so much about that aspect. Some bikes are more about style than function. Hope you find a buyer soon. Having 3 bikes is a bit of a luxury, but then a friend of mine has at least that many. They take up less room than cars.

Ride free!

That's what I told myself too.. My lower back is begging for less style! 🤣

So true. Also cheaper gas (That's a big one right now) and cheaper to maintain.
