When You Have A Difficult Worker, Try This

in Be Entrepreneur11 days ago

Work keeps going on until you realize that it's actually a whole different ball game when you're working with difficult people. And it's something that I think we need to talk about because quite a lot of us find ourselves in the mix.

Some of you are working with nice people. Some are working with very bad people. And some people are just in the middle. I want to call them difficult people.

Some of the things that makes these people be difficult are either that they are not quick to understand or that they just have a different position entirely from yours. Or that they are oftentimes even less concerned about the development of the company or the business idea, but somehow they are very great assets to the business and you can't just... You just have to work with them.

How do you deal with such people? It is very important that we have these discussions because sometimes the person reading might even be a difficult person.

Difficult people often have reasons why they are the way they are. Some of them are just built like that. Some of them have other challenges that they are handling and because of that it reduces their concern and control. Some of them, it is simply because they do not have as much interest in the work anymore.

Maybe they have gotten something else to do some other place and they are sharing that interest with the work you are doing. But the big outcome... The big outcome of working with them is that as long as they bring this difficulty to your flow of work, there will be a reduction in energy for everyone.

And that will lead to a reduction in productivity and this results into being less productive. Less creative because it kills creativity and it also kills the drive that everyone has.

So when there is a difficult person in a particular place of work, it destroys the creativity and the fun in working and makes it laborious to go to work every day.

However, we all know that the best way to deal with difficult people is to call them to order.

Calling to order entails recognizing their defects, bringing them to the place of letting them know what they are doing wrong and showing them how to come out of it and if they choose not to change. Sending them out of the company becomes the best thing to do. Because the truth is, if they remain in that institution or that business, they are going to crumble the business.

Get all company assets that are with them and sack them straight up rather than hold them in the company for more longer.

The beautiful thing about this is that it frees the rest of the people from the hardness of working with such people and makes the place a better place. You realize that once the difficult person is removed, every other person has peace and they can enjoy work and there will be a surge in productivity even before the replacement is made.

It is often hard to let go of staffs but that's what you got to do if you really want your business to go forward. If someone is not meeting their goals, remove them and replace them. This will even help every other person to buckle up and push further to put their best into the game.

I believe that many business owners should know about and work on or else we are all going to go down in the business and this is not what I pray for you all.

Yes, difficult people are human beings too. They have needs. They have challenges. But as long as you have tried to help them with their challenges, and they are not working, maybe they can serve better in another company. But definitely not yours.

Don't be too afraid to serve people the exit. It takes courage to sack people. And when you have that courage, you will do what is needed to get what you want in your business.

If it entails letting people go. Let them go.

This is interesting as no one would like to work with a difficult person. But what happens when the difficult person is your boss? Maybe the owner of the organisation? How do we handle that?

Then in that situation, the person who applied to work with a difficult must have some wit.

Sometimes the boss can be a difficult person, the same tactics.

  1. What does he want ?
  2. How can you help?
  3. If you can't help it, you can file for resignation.

You ll be wasting your time working in a toxic environment. No salary is worth your piece and really your time can be better used.

NB:
If the job improves your CV or skill level in any way, set a target of how much time you intend to spend and endure it till then then leave.

By then you ve improved your skill and you are good to get a better job elsewhere.

Okay. That is good.
Is not healthy to work in a toxic environment, the best option is quitting when he/she has found another job. I don't think a difficult person will want someone to change him or correct him all the time😁.
Happy Sunday!

Happy Monday.
Avoid toxic places.
