February 17th ➡️ February 24th, 2025If you live in Southeast Asia and don't have a hammock, well, I don't know what to tell you other than you're missing out. More than likely you have at least one hammock and access to many more, and of course it's not uncommon to run a small roadside business from a hammock, at least here in Cambodia anyhow. A good post is a good story and engaging photography, so show me the view from your hammock even it's not a scenic one.
Perhaps hammock time is part of a daily routine, for me it happens to be morning coffee. Maybe you recently took a trip where you brought a hammock along and have some pics, or maybe it's your bed like one of my cousins with a spine made from rubber. Maybe your hammock is a place to daydream, whatever it is, do your best to try and get the reader to experience your hammock time from your point of view.

Once again I was shocked at the amount of entries for this most recent challenge, and I needed a little extra time to narrow things down to three winners. I think some of you need to consider quitting your jobs and becoming full-time artists, and boy did this challenge make me realize how artistically not gifted I am. It appears three Filipinas were in the winners' circle this time, not surprising though considering how much artistic talent there is on the eastern fringes of Southeast Asia.

Hello! How are you? So while cleaning up my room, I saw my watercolor materials, which had been abandoned since I stopped receiving commissions. I felt that I could not do this right now. Today, I decided why not paint again, and maybe I will be back doing commissions again. This is my all-time dream to open a portrait commission, which I have never done. I only experienced doing pet portraits, which I enjoyed so much. I have learned a lot from that experience, and I kind of invested in more professional gear using what I earned from it.

When I saw the challenge post, I immediately decided to paint something... but what? After contemplating some more (lol), I decided to paint something that has something to do with the place I live in, Cebu. There are a lot of beautiful things about this island and I chose an activity very popular not only with the locals but also with foreign tourists. It's Swimming with the Whale Sharks in Oslob.

I was so busy last week with my business but now I'm slowly having more time. Whew! This week's ASEAN Hive Challenge, "Paint, Sketch, or Draw", is about art and I don't want to miss it so here I am cramming. Lol. I've been thinking for a while on what to draw for this challenge. The theme on my drawing is about birthday, strawberries, roses, and a cat being taken away by a bundle of balloons. This month is my birth month which is why I am having a birthday-themed art.

I'm excited about hammocking outside but our ground conditions have been affected by the recent weather. It always rains here!
Job well done to all the winners and congratulations. You showcase your talent and you deserve it. About the hammock I remember the place of my grandparents. They have hammock in the province. Having hammock is good for relaxation. Its so nice that you have a peaceful and stressful province life. How I wish I have one here but sad to say, because of the cold weather its not possible outside. Again Congrats to all the winners.

Congratulations everyone! It's so funny seeing about hammock hehehe, we have one of it, we usually used that one during hot days, we bring it to forest hahaha and sleeping there for a mean time haha

About the hammock, in my hometown we have so many kinds of hammock it depends on how to used and who will use it. But most highlight one as a mom we badly needed it so our infants can sleep well😅🥰

Regarding the hammock, it's a great idea! I remember back then, I was selling hammocks, and people bought them from me because there are many perfect places to put them in the countryside. I have one here in my house, but I haven't found the perfect spot to put it, so I guess I'll just keep it for now.

Congratulations winners. Hammocks have always been a big part of my life, from childhood naps under our star apple tree to using special tribal hammocks for my babies. Can't wait to share our hammock story.
