A Taste of Something New: Bringing Home Korean Food from Mercato De Mactan and Wishing for a Family Meal

Hello Hivers!

My Sunday.png

I've had a hectic week, but it still took me a while to decide on this. Last Sunday, I did something unusual for me—I spent money on food, which I normally wouldn’t unless it was free. That’s just the way I am. I prefer cooking for my family, not only because I enjoy it, but also because it’s more cost-effective.

I decided to try something new—I had never tried Korean food before, so our goal for the day was to finally experience it. We went to Mercato De Mactan, a food market and event space located on Soong Street, Mactan, Lapu-Lapu City. It was two rides away from our boarding house, but since my husband has a motorcycle, getting there was much more convenient.

Mercato De Mactan is a great spot to enjoy good food and quality time with family and friends. It’s easy to find since its right by the roadside—just head straight or take any transportation going to Soong Street, Mactan.

We decided not to dine in there because my sister is waiting for us. My conscience keeps hitting me, enjoying the food there while my sister didn’t. If you will go to this place, I suggest to not do the same as we did. It would be nice to enjoy food in a fun environment and with good ambiance.

While waiting for the food, I took moment to capture the places. There are few people there at that time, it’s maybe because it is already 10:00 at the evening or almost 10:00. But I’m telling you that based on what I have read in a Facebook post they will open Tuesday to Sunday, 4;00 pm to 12:00 midnight.

Once our order was ready, we headed home to enjoy the food. To be honest, I don’t usually do this because I feel guilty enjoying delicious food outside without my son. He is currently in my mother’s care, so it’s difficult for us to have experiences like this, especially since these kinds of food options aren’t available in our hometown.

POHON....png

Maybe the right time for this will come soon—"pohon," this what we say when hoping for something in the future. Hopefully this vacation. Sharing a meal with loved ones is always special.

What Korean food did you order? Did you enjoy it? It can be very spicy!

Oh, I'm sorry, I forgot to mention it here because I'm not familiar with the food. Anyway, there was chicken, that fish cake soup, and I think it was kimbap.

Pohon is a tree in Indonesian

Mohon is wishing something

😊

Cool! The first letter of "mohon" and "pohon" sound alike, and their meanings are not too different either.

Yes, many Indonesian words are in Tagalog as well 😊

I don’t usually do this because I feel guilty enjoying delicious food outside without my son.

As mothers, we often experience guilt when we are out enjoying ourselves without our children, sometimes forgetting that we also deserve time to pamper ourselves for our own sanity.😄

That seems to be a nice place. It looks relaxing! Every once in a while we really need to be out there and explore new places!

We all have a lot of "pohon". One of that is also the same as your I and my family haven't tried Korean food. It's famous and the say it's delicious. As a mom who's family has enough budget to make end meet everyday I always prefer to just cook for them. But I know "pohon" we can eat together in a Korean restaurant.
