Whether working an 8-hour job, running a business, or working from home, mastering the art of balancing work and life is always rewarding. It shows the definition of effective time management. Plus, you get to feel the satisfaction of having this perfect balance of things.
I quit my job as a plant accountant a month ago, and it has been the best decision this year so far. The reason? I felt like I was not having a life out of it, and it was draining me. Even though I was paid above minimum wage, it was not enough to compensate for all the good things I should have experienced instead of working nonstop. I am working at home with my clients at Upwork and writing blogs here on Hive.
I usually start my day with a cup of coffee. After breakfast, I would open my laptop and check my Upwork account, read emails, and check if there were new messages on WhatsApp from my clients. Then, I would start checking my Hive account for engagements, curation, and blog ideas.
I work on my hourly contract for 2-3 hours in the afternoon. I was given a chance to work flexibly, and I am more productive in the afternoon.
Because I can work any day, I get the perks of working from home. And here comes how I finally balance work and life - my entry to ASEAN Hive's Weekly Challenge #148.
I get to spend more time with family.
One of the things I love about working from home is that I get to have more bonding moments with my family. We would go to the beach and eat breakfast together, and I even took my niece and nephews to school. It has been satisfying for me since then.
I could go to the beach anytime.
I love watching the sunset and playing with the waves. I have some time at the beach whenever I feel exhausted. We can now go to the beach anytime I want - we even tried going here early in the morning. It's my stress reliever!
Doing home body workout & exercises.
I could not be physically active when I was still working in the office. All I do is sit in front of my computer for 8 hours, then go home tired. I did not have enough free time to be fit.
So, when I finally got the chance to work from home, I promised myself that I would watch over my health more. I use a timer when I start working in the morning. When it hits 10:00 AM, it's my time to have a 30-minute walk at home. Another 30 minutes of exercise are needed for body toning. Here's a photo of me all sweaty after an hour of home workout!
Getting closer to nature.
Once in a while, I take a few walks outside my home to witness our beautiful nature. Every week, I spend one to two afternoons walking outside.
After working hours, I would get some coffee and walk towards the river just a few walks from home. It's another way to relax my mind and eyes - since I get to see greenery.

woww.. such a great time management to do all the job and still have time for your self.. keep the goodwork po!!🥰🥰
Quitting your job to work from home and be with your family was a bold move. My husband has been working remotely for six years in different niche, and it's been his best decision. While it's created significant opportunities, it also comes with increased risks. I assist him when his workload is heavy and ensure a comfortable, quiet environment to minimize distractions. Working from home requires support and teamwork, as it can be overwhelming. I wish you a smooth transition! Best of luck!
It’s inspiring to see how you’ve created a lifestyle that prioritizes both productivity and well-being. The flexibility of working from home truly allows for a more fulfilling daily routine, especially with quality time spent with family and nature. Wishing you continued success and balance in this new chapter!
