❤️ The Alcoholic ❤️
This drawing is inspired by a character from a Korean drama, My Liberation Notes. Did anyone on Hive watch this drama other than me? I finished watching it about a couple of months ago. I love, love the drama because it's not your typical k-drama. I bet it was written by an INFJ (see note below) writer. And my INFJ brain rejoices in the series of subtle allegories and metaphors sprinkled through each episode; you barely noticed them. This drama is not for everyone. It could be boring and perhaps draggy. But the writer and the actors did a fantastic job of bringing everyday human struggles to artful life. I hold dear each and every character - the Yeom siblings, their abeoji (dad) and eomeoni (mom), their office mates, their quirky neighborhood friends, and the mysterious Mr.Gu. I relate most to their mother. She is definitely the glue that holds the family together. The family falls miserably apart in the aftermath of her death. It is sad to see the family members grieving alone, wallowing in their silent misery, unable to reach out to one another for comfort. The writer and director did an excellent job of capturing the reminders of loss - the rice in the pot, the mom's laundry basket, the clothes she would never wear again, and small little things left unused forever.
Ahh...but I digress...
Of all the characters in this drama, I was drawn to the alcoholic, Mr. Gu, struggling to battle his demons with alcohol. Thus this drawing is of him struggling to overcome his past demons by drowning them in his alcohol-induced haze.
Note: INFJ is one of the 16 personality types identified by the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI). It is the rarest personality type, with less than 2% across the population. I belong to this personality type.
❤️ Numb By Pain ❤️
I am not talking about physical pain but emotional pain. Emotional pain is hard to give a name to and hard to detect. Someone suffering emotionally for a prolonged period may not realize they need help or notice they are struggling. The pain may be subtle, and the person just lives with it thinking it is a normal part of their life. As time goes by, they just suppress their emotions, and the feeling of numbness sets in.
❤️ No Shame In Being Open About Your Struggles ❤️
This drawing is self-explanatory. We should normalize talking about our feelings and our struggles. Many people are afraid to be vulnerable and continue living like their life is in a constant state of euphoria. We all know that's not the case. We don't live our life jumping from one bright moment to bright moment. Shitty situations hijacked our days like nobody's business, and we must learn to manage ourselves during such crises. If we are struggling, talk about it with someone. There is no shame in getting help.
❤️ The Killer ❤️
The last drawing is from a movie poster - The Killer: A Girl Who Deserves to Die. I am a big fan of the main actor, Jang Hyuk. He is perhaps the longest celebrity crush I ever had 😍. No other celebrity can replace my undying loyalty to him 😆. I mean, we have so many similarities:
- Same age, he is 46
- His music taste stuck in the 90s, and so do mine.
- We favor the old-fashioned flip phone cover
- We got married almost around the same time (not exactly. My wedding was in late 2006, and his was in early 2008)
- Our kids are around the same age. He has two sons, age 14 and 13, respectively, and a 7 years old daughter. My eldest is 12 and son is 8.
- He is a boxer and could be a pro boxer if he wanted to. I love boxing for fitness.
😍🤗
Anyway, I watched The Killer when it was released in the cinema in early August. The movie is dark, violent, with a touch of humor. I flinched at most of the killing scenes, the ax, the chopped-off limbs, the bullets or glasses to the brains. The movie is totally self-aware, and it delivers exactly what it promises, and of course, Jang Hyuk is absolutely at his best. Love, love it. I would definitely watch it again when they released it on VOD 😘.
That's it for now. If you read this far, thank you. I appreciate it so much! Kindly give me a follow if you like my content. I mostly write about making art, life musing, and our mundane yet charming family life here in Klang Valley, Malaysia.
Thank you for visiting and reading my post. I hope you like it!

Wow.. Olivia the killer sure sounds like a movie I would definitely watch.. I will go and check it out.. have you ever watched neighbours from hell? Ur drawing of that poster is top notch.. 😉👍
Thank you! No I haven't watch Neighbours From Hell? It's a movie? Yes, go ahead and watch the Killer. It's all action, simple storyline, minimal dialogue, but I love, love it. But I am bias. It has John Wick vibe to it.
It's a Korean series.. a bit dark.. about a man who moves into this cheap students apartment.. to then find out that everyone there is a bit ... psycho. hahah
Sounds very interesting. Since discovering Korean shows, I quit watching western stuff. I find that Korean shows are more relatable to my conservative values.
Korean dramas now usually offer something new .. The main actor of Killer was also in this drama series
"Tell me what you saw" . This is quite good. About trying to hunt for this killer and the killer leaves lots of small little clues. The the good guys are actually the bad guys.. hahaha.. quite nice..
I watched Tell Me What You Saw too. In fact, I watched almost all of his work throughout his entire 25 years career. Have you watched Voice Season 1? Jang Hyuk is the main lead for season 1. He left after season 1 though. It was another good show about a serial killer. You will love that one too.
