When I was a child, many times that my mother hunted a snake, in Bisaya it is called Baksan or Sawa, It is edible and I learned eating snake since then. They also told me that it might cure my asthma. Still not healed until now.
When I came to this mountain, the more I am exposed eating with my student. Last week, we hunted one snake but I forgot to take the picture because they already cleaned it when they decided to let me cook it. They believed that if I cooked it could be the best.
I boiled it first with all the spices especially the lemon grass, turmeric and ginger until it tender. After boiling, I prepared onion, garlic ,ginger, venigar and soy sauce to cooked as Abodo like adobong baby. Its smell of adobo fragrance scattered on the air and inviting all my fellow faculty members to join the food trip. They could've believe how to transform the snake into a delicious viand on that day.
There were teacher who refused eating it and vomit while enjoying watching us eating the snake.
I saw my Uncle how he cooked before. They removed the skin and there was no sign that it was a snake. The skin was dried up in the sun and cooked it to produce oil and it became a medicine. I forgot telling the student to remove the skin but the skin is too young. The snake was not big as what we had in Bohol. There are part of the snake that is good for as medicine.The oil being made for the pregnant woman before the delivery date schedule. It helped giving smooth delivery according to old people.
