RE: Something I discovered after this last trip to revisit Thailand

Thailand has so many beautiful places, especially for beach people. I have visited Phuket years ago and I remember it being crowded just like you said. I was traveling through Vietnam when Covid happened, and decided to hunker down there through most of the pandemic. When I first passed through Da Nang as a backpacker, I didn't really understand the appeal. After living in Vietnam for a few years, some of them in Da Nang, I have to agree with your assessment. It is a well organized city without traffic congestion, and is cleaner than many other cities I have lived in. I think Da Nang is the perfect place for long-term expats because you have a great beach, cheap prices, and it is not overly-crowded with tourists like Thailand can often be.

Well you summed it up at least as well as I can. I sometimes do feel as though Da Nang can be a bit boring because in places like Phuket you are basically forced to do something exotic all the time and maybe because of the fact that doing almost anything is going to be filled with various annoyances, you tend to focus on the good when you actually get to experience it. In Da Nang on the other hand, a lot of the activities are actually not so easy to find but when you do find them, life can be very good here and certainly more like a "real life" than anything in a place like Phuket will ever be.

Yes, I completely agree. If it wasn't for all the motorbikes, you could almost forget you are in Southeast Asia if you just kept to the city of Da Nang. However, go just a few minutes out of the city and there are certainly exotic adventures to be discovered.
