I think it is up to the breed to a certain extent but also it could end up being dumb luck. I think that with mixed breed dogs you have a better chance at them being able to learn stuff but that has just been my own experience. Nadi would be a terrible teacher for a new dog because she would probably just be mean to it all the time. When she passes, I will likely just be pet-less for a while until I have a bit more stability as to where I am going to live.

I think that makes a lot of sense. My wife and I already know we aren't going to get another pet right away. We have a lot of traveling we want to do and it wouldn't be fair to another dog to have to board them so much during that time. My wife prefers larger dogs, but I think if we ever do get another one I am leaning towards a smaller breed.
