My first ever trip to Mexico has been a lot less delightful than I had hoped it would be thus far and this has nothing to do with the company around me. I am seeing many of my family members for the first time in over 5 years so this is really important to me. As I have said before I was initially not able to visit because of Covid and then it was because of visa issues in Vietnam. I feared that if I left I would not be allowed back in and I was not going to risk that with my dog still sitting there waiting for me.
Speaking of my dog, wow would she be jealous if she knew what I was up to.
My parents have 3 dogs and all of them are sweethearts. The little one is about Nadi's size and that is the "indoors doggy." The other two who are a bit older stay outside but honestly, they live in relative luxury so it's not like they are jealous. I think it is cool that the larger dogs just know they are not allowed inside.
This little girl behaves a lot like Nadi in that she is always lingering at your feet whenever you are cooking or eating anything She is a sweetheart and frequently comes by my bed to say hello. Which brings me to the unfortunate main reason why I am typing this: I have been seriously ill ever since getting here.
I don't know if I picked something up on the airplane or if it is because my body is accustomed to a humid and hot environment but my sinuses have just been completely wrecked since arriving here. I go through being congested and then being runny and I am coughing and at one point was feverish. 2 of the major things that my family had planned for me, including and especially a trip to go and see some Luche Libre wrestling, had to be cancelled because I have basically zero energy.

I would have really enjoyed going to see that but I am still here for another 3 weeks so maybe we will have another chance. I could have gone but these are loud environments and for me, just speaking above a normal volume results in me coughing plus I am completely drained of energy and only stay out of bed for a few hours in a row.
I don't know what is going on with me. Initially it was the jet lag that forced me to bed at a really early hour but now I seem to have gotten a rather serious sinus infection of sorts and that is putting a serious damper on my ability to go and do stuff with the family. I think they are cool with is because they enjoy sitting around the house anyway.
The few times I have gone out we would do simple things like go to a park to walk the dogs but I found myself being a real stick in the mud and not much fun to be around. Even when we were having surprisingly good cheap park beers I just wanted to get home and lie down.
This funny dog above chases shadows and especially reflections off of phones or watches so getting a picture of her is nigh on impossible. Instead of looking at you she is focused like a ninja on the reflection the lens is making on the ground.
In a few days my family is heading to another part of the country to go celebrate the Day of the Dead and it is meant to be a very big deal. I am really hopeful that I can get over whatever this is that is affecting me so negatively in that time, otherwise I am going to be a real downer on the whole family.
I am sorry to hear that. At least it wasn't something you picked up from accidentally drinking the water or something like that. I had Covid a few weeks ago and I am still dealing with some stuff from that. Either that or I picked up a new sinus infection as well. It's been a bit of a nightmare. On top of that somehow I threw my back out, so that is not good! I hope you can get feeling better soon so you can enjoy the festivities!
well buddy your situation sounds a lot worse than mine and you also have much colder temps to contend with than I am facing.
Yeah, we were down in the 25 degree range the other day. I was driving across the UP and we ran into some snow. We are definitely rushing towards winter! I hope you are feeling better!
Sorry to hear you are man down and yes it is the recycled air in the plane and airports. When you think about it you were not outside and you never had fresh air once for nearly 2 days. Jet lag sucks too so that should improve things once that goes as your energy comes back. Cheer up you are with the family, maybe knowing you a beer may fix you lol.
lol. They have been trying the "beer-fix" with me for days now. Who knows, maybe it will work. It has in the past!
Ohhh so sorry, I can imagine getting sick on a trip, it’s so frustrating.
I think it’s the change of environment, it always happens to me too. Once your body get accustomed to the new environment you’d be fine.
Sending you all the love from this part of the world🤗
!hug
yeah, it is starting to turn around already. It just kind of sucked to not have any energy to hang out when this is the first time I have seen my family in many years.
It is that season for getting sick. No surprise if you've been around a bunch of people from different parts of the world too. Probably all sorts of colds and flu running around in the airports right now!
yeah, I suppose I should have expected that since I think a lot of people end up getting sick in airports any time they travel. I don't know how or where I caught it but it has not been fun!
That is really serious. May be the food, you've been adapted to Asian countries? I'm just saying, never been to Mexico in my life. stay hydrated. Get well soon.
staying hydrated is more of an issue in SE Asia. I have been delightfully surprised about the temperature and humidity here. I am not sweating just by being alive for the first time in many years.

Thanks. I am one of those people that feel as though having dogs around makes any situation just a little bit better.
