Hello everyone and ASEAN Hive Community, how are you all? I heard that the new Covid-19 virus variant has been detected in Malaysia and Singapore (maybe, it has also been in Indonesia but has not been detected). If this news is true, it is very upsetting news, because there is a chance that we will again experience a lockdown or quarantine and it will cancel our final holiday. We hope and pray that nothing bad happens.
Btw, speaking of annoying things, There's nothing more annoying when our vehicle has a punctured tire when we go to work or is in a hurry. I experienced this yesterday, in the morning when I was going to work on my motorbike, I just got out of the house complex and the front tire of my motorbike was leaking.
Fortunately, not far from the location I experienced a tire puncture. I found a tire repairman, so I didn't have to change my tires, just taped the leaking point and burned it with fire. Creative and simple, right?
As far as I can remember, people in Indonesia really like to fix things. Maybe, in a modern city or outside Indonesia you won't find a “tire repairman” but that's our habit (and I certainly am). As much as possible, we will repair or service items that are considered damaged until we find that the item is truly unusable.
Various business repairs are available here, ranging from servicing laptops, servicing cellphones, servicing electronic devices (refrigerators, televisions, washing machines, mixers), and even serving pots.
I have an acquaintance (englishman) who works in Singapore and praises the quality of Indonesians in repairing or servicing things. He told me, that he has a macbook pro that has some problems (I forget the details of the problem on the macbook). Ibox Singapore said that the macbook could be repaired but had to wait about two weeks, and he didn't have time because he was going to Jakarta at that time. Finally he got a suggestion to repair his macbook in Jakarta, and in less than 3 hours, his macbook was done and can be used. He said at first he was very unsure of the young man doing repairs for his macbook, but the fact that the young man could repair his macbook, even at a lower cost.
These habits and mindsets to improve something have an impact on the habits of Indonesian consumers in buying a product. I will give one example, if you want to buy a car or motorbike, generally we will buy a car or motorbike whose spare parts are easy to find. Why? the reason is that if the car or motorcycle is damaged, it is easy to repair it. That's why in Indonesia, cars from Japan are more dominant (more salable) than cars from Europe or America, because spare parts are easier to find than other cars.
This argument may be true but a little odd in my opinion. Isn't it if a product has spare parts that are easy to find on the market, it means that the product is easily damaged (that's why the factory sells the spare parts). But, well, that's the reality.
We return to the tragedy of the punctured tire earlier, to patch a tire it takes about 30 minutes. The tools and materials used are very simple and can be done by anyone. First, the tire repairman will remove the inner tube. Then, they will check for leaks in the tires using water. After finding the leak point on the tire, patch it at that point and then burn/cook it with fire.
To patch one hole, I pay IDR 10K. This price is cheaper than I have to buy a new inner tube, it costs IDR 45K. What if there are 2 holes, the price will be cheaper usually to IDR 15K.
Okay, this is my story for today. How's your place? is there a similar story?

Call me Isdarmady, because I have a full name that is very long, namely Isdarmady Syahputra Ritonga. I am a head of the family who work as Farmers Vegetables Hydroponic and Consultant Hydroponics, sometimes I also sell coffee from various regions in Indonesia.
I have expertise dispensing coffee with a variety of techniques and tools brewing, because I have the desire to make a coffee shop with hydroponics as centerpieces. Help me realize that dream.
Thanks for read, vote, re-blog and support me in Hive. Maybe god will reward the kindness, let’s success together.
In the Philippines, we do that as well. It's a small shop and also with a low price payment. Anyway, still thankful that the tires were being fixed.
that's right, fortunately the tires can still be repaired. Is the working process similar to the one I photographed?
Thank you for stopping by
Honestly, is my 1st time seeing patching it without removing the whole Tyre 🤩. Very creative and skillful indeed 👍🏻. Why don't use tubeless then put in some sort of glue inside it?
hello, thank you for stopping by,
I don't use tubeless tires, because I travel home and work through many potholes. I used it two years ago, but then the rims got a little worn and the tubeless didn't work, so I went back to regular tires.
I see. Yup you're right make sense too ☺️. Sorry about it
Yes, Cambodian has tube fixers all over the roads too, and a flat tire is hardly an inconvenience like it would be here in the USA. In a best-case scenario, a flat tire might only add 10 minutes to your journey, thanks to awesome guys like this.
yes that's right, we should always be grateful when there are many solutions to every problem on the Way. of course at a low price.
in Indonesia, if there are too many tire repairmen on one road and there are often cases of tire punctures. That's a sign there is a nail mine that was spread intentionally to make a tire puncture. I hope this doesn't happen in your place.
People's creativity is truly inspiring. We do this thing too in the Philippines, and it's really helpful for families to lessen costs. I hope that the new covid variant in your country will not affect a lot of people. Wishing you the best!
thank you for stopping by.
it's human way to see opportunity, and make easy solution. Hopefully your country will also be protected from this new virus variant, I don't want to be vaccinated again because there is a new virus.
Me too, that would be unfortunate.
Bahkan terkadang sampai menumpuk barang-barang rusak yang belum sempat atau belum cukup uang untuk membetulkannya😁.
Salam kenal ya Bang🙏
My mother and grandmother have a habit of piling up various scraps with the excuse "it can be used later or will be needed".
Greetings again. Welcome to Hive
We have a lot of this in Philippines. We call it vulcanizing shop
wow, it looks like our country has the same solution when there is a tire leak problem.
thank you for stopping by.
What impressed me is the repairmen didn't took out the whole tyre. Just the tube 😲😲
In the late 80's and early 90's regular tyre is common in Malaysia, and tyre repairmen can be found easily.
But nowadays, all motorbike comes standard with tubeless tyre.
Yeah, the omicron variant. I can just hope the spread and infection is not severe 🙏🙏
Yes, I've been to Malaysia and the first time I checked was the presence of a tire repairman.
In Indonesia, the use of tubeless tires is still limited in cities that have good roads, if like me, I have to traverse various roads, I think I should use old tires.
May we all be kept away from this pandemic.
