Farm School

If given a chance, what kind of life would you choose?

I always wanted to live near the forest, not so far from the streams to gaze at the fishes that swim, to inhale fresh air everyday, and to live--to live like it were still 1800s, but that was just impossible.

Today was really hard.

Living has become expensive and mentally exhausting, if given a chance why not choose to live the old ways? But that too was simply not easy.

I had the chance to get immersed in an agricultural training. Living in the farm, cooking by an open firewood stove, and be surrounded by much greenery. It was a lonely life to be honest. To be alone for a time with a very few peole you never chose to work with. Silence is so deafening at night there. Yet now, being in the sub-urbs again was relieving.

Sometimes I questioned my choices in life.

Yet, there are times we also need to live our dreams. To fulfill our role in this life by making our dreams a reality, to be hands-on in making it come true. Being very honest with ourselves about what we truly wanted and chase that elusive dream.

Today was hard because things are getting real.

This year I was given a chance of planning and establishing my own farm (government sponsored by the way which is great). But before I could make my own farm I needed to train from an established farm for almost a year. The farm training won't be easy but was an eye-opener for me. This farm training would take me almost a year before I could build my own farm, yet the first month wasn't that easy for me.

I wasn't prepared to face the reality of farming--because it was way different than what I saw online. I thought it was fun. But I needed to prepare myself next time when I'll be in our farm school again. Bringing peace to myself and to those around me. I hope I'll be better than complaining about the things I can't control.

This time I know I'll be okay because there will be no more excuses.

I will live through this as I'd be greeted by the cold morning air each day, my very companion at the farm school, *except the rabbits and the cats and the dogs that I learned to love there. And I will be there again soon. After this very short vacation.

There are 12 rabbits at the farm, these are only two of them.
