The world is Rude!
The world was rude to these day-old chicks that my mother had. They just came out from the egg shell but had never felt their mother's love because the hen died before all the egg she laid hatched.
Not just the hen but all of my mother's chicken died, thank God the ducks had stronger immunity. They suddenly fell ill, mucus came out of their nose and then died in just a short span of time. We suspect that someone had vaccinated their chickens and did not burry the remaining vaccine causing an outbreak of disease through the vicinity.
We also found out that the neighborhood chickens died as well with the same symptoms my mother's chicken had.
This morning, mum gave the chicken ls their food as her usual routine and checked on the hen as it started to get weak yesterday and found out it was on rigor Mortis sarge and the poor chicks under her are longing for her care.
So we took the chicks out and bathed them in the sun so that they won't feel cold and fed them and provided water. The chicks looks strong and I hope they would survive the cruel world.
My lovely daughter spooned the chick so out from the first container to the larger one and the chicks did not even have the slightest idea that they are only standing on a very small and breakable spoon.
There alwere many unhatched eggs left on the nest and there is only a very slim chance to have them hatched since we don't have an incubator. I suggested to my mum that we keep them in a cloth and let the sun incubate them holding on even to the 1% chance of geting them out alive.
Tonight, our problem will be the brooding of the chicks, I hope a fabric will be enough to keep them warm throughout the night and that they will survive and grow.
My daughter @eylii is a loving and caring child who is one of the incharge of taking care of them and she is a great keeper.
I'll be leaving you here for now, and I'll give you an update soon.
Thank you for giving time to read my post.
Proper disposal of vaccine is a must as well as vaccination program on your part. Even in our backyard farming we practice vaccination program from day old chicks to breeding adults even if we only had few birds. Prevention is always better.
The problem is that we didn't know who the irresponsible neighbor that vaccinized their poultry and caused death to ours
