Hi, Hive friends! It's been a long time since my last blog here on Hive, but I'm back now, ready to share new stories and highlight moments in my life. So, how are you guys? I hope you're doing great today.

I really missed writing and posting blogs here because I've been very busy since the school year started last year. As I'm now a graduating student, I've been overworking myself with assignments and projects at school. Anyways, for this blog, I'll be sharing with you all about my first-ever prom night experience.

The JS prom is one of the events that I've been looking forward to. Since the pandemic hit, I wasn't able to experience the JS prom when I was in grade 10. It was canceled because face-to-face interaction was prohibited at that time. But now, I am very happy to join this year's prom. I was so excited the week before the prom, I told my cousins that they would do my makeup and hair and asked them to help me with my preparation.

On the day of my prom, February 22, 2024, I slept at my cousin's house since it's close to the venue, which is the Danao Civic Center. We woke up very early, around 5 in the morning, because the event would start at 4 in the afternoon, and we had to get up early due to the extensive preparation needed for my makeup, hair, dress, and everything.

After my makeup was done, I put on my gorgeous emerald dress. This dress is from my cousin's friend, and I really love the design and the color. I also love it because it's a long gown that fits me so well.

I finished my preparations around 3 in the afternoon, from makeup to hair to my dress. Now, I'm super excited to go to our venue. My cousin drove me to the venue, and as soon as I arrived there, I immediately put on my sandals and saw my fellow students and classmates preparing for the grand entrance.

My friends and I were talking about our dresses and makeup while we were waiting for the event to start. There were so many of us, and I really loved their outfits and makeup. A minute before the event started, we immediately lined up with our partners by our side.

The event started, and we began to walk on the red carpet. We walked in pairs, two pairs at a time. As we walked on the red carpet, I let down the train of my long gown, and I think I slayed it. Everyone was shocked by how long it was, and I just smiled at them while walking towards our table.

After everyone was settled, we sat down and listened to our campus director as he opened the JS prom 2024 and warmly welcomed us.

Now, after he was done with his speech, we performed our first dance. I had a great time dancing, and I saw my fellow students in their beautiful gowns and suits. Their faces were adorned with beautiful smiles, and I could see that they were happy and enjoying the night.

After the first dance, we had our early dinner. It was actually around 6 pm, and I had a great time talking with my friends and enjoying my food. We finished our food quickly because we had to perform our second dance, which was the cotillion. I didn't have a picture of us dancing this, probably my friends or the school has it. The cotillion is a formal dance where partners change. At our prom, we formed two big circles, and the boys would turn us around while the girls changed partners. We had to go around until we returned to our original partners. It was kind of dizzying for us girls, but it was fun.

I had so much fun during our second dance, and everyone seemed happy too. We also received souvenirs from the school during the lighting of candles, where we had to exchange candles and souvenirs with our partners. It's a pen with the name of the school on it.

There were still many moments that happened, but I wasn't able to take pictures because I was enjoying the night so much that I forgot to capture the moment.

And before the event ends, this is what we've been waiting for all night, the social dance. In this dance, you can dance with anyone or in groups and just dance however you want. We took this chance to enjoy the moment and just be happy before we went home. The venue was crowded, full of students dancing with their friends, crushes, teachers, and families. It was a fantastic night, truly wonderful for us students who had been stressed with academics, and it was a kind of break from everything. We were really happy to experience this wonderful prom night. I'll never forget this moment in my high school life.

Before I end this blog, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to my cousins who have been there from the start until the event ends. Without them, I may not have been able to join the JS prom. They supported me along the way, told me what to do and what not to do, took pictures of me during the event, took care of me, and made sure that I got home safely. I love them so much. No words can express how grateful I am to have them not only as my cousins but also as my best friends.
