👖 Pants From A Truck Yo' 🍝 & Pasta For The Girls 👯‍♀️

We recently picked up a random bundle of women's clothing from the bus station, and for dinner I made the girls' favorite pasta dish.

What's Behind Your Back? 🤐

After returning home from a trip to the local shipping agent, Srey-Yuu and Pov dove into their shared package, a random assortment of secondhand women's clothes she found on FB Marketplace. Not long after getting home I noticed Srey-Yuu trying to hide something behind her back. Apparently she used marker on a plastic notebook cover, but because marker ink doesn't adhere well to smooth plastic, the ink dried to powder and became easy to remove.

While investigating the dried marker ink powder, she quickly realized her hands were rehydrating the concentrated marker ink powder and making an unbelievably strong human skin dye. The markers are a mystery brand from China, so hopefully there's nothing too toxic her skin has absorbed. I will monitor her for irregular activities and decreased cognitive function during the following week 😆.

🍝 Fusili All'Arrabbiata For The Girls 🌶️

One of the girls' favorite dishes is sugo all'arrabbiata, basically a spicier version of Italian style marinara sauce. They would probably be quite happy to eat it as a soup with no pasta because they are nuts for this sauce, but I only make it when we have pasta. It's one of the few simple dishes I like that my family also finds tasty, so I make it at least once a week providing we have pasta or have the energy to make it from scratch.

When I make this dish I enjoy watching the girls eat bowl after bowl until someone is the first to admit defeat. Tomorrow or the day after we will drive the tuk-tuk to Phnom Penh and stay for several days while we do some shopping and pursue some warranty repairs/refunds on a few household appliances. On May 3rd I fly from Phnom Penh to Sarasota, Florida, with a ton of stops and long layovers along the way because I am a cheapskate and will buy the worst ticket if it saves me even $100.

The first picture, the first thing noticed is your wife looks ultra skinny. Easter egg is, now I know where monkey built her fort with 🤣

Never trust china stuff for skin safety, especially if it's made NOT for the skin..

I would choose a cheap flight with many layovers. That way I can sit down and document each airports, use their bathrooms, use their water dispensers. I used to visit smoking rooms, but I haven't been flying since I stopped smoking, so I will find something else to do on my next airport visits 🤣

Empty old broken suitcases make for nice fort walls. Although not China, I remember a case of mercury poisoning several years ago, apparently the source was a skin whitening cream from Vietnam, and it actually killed a few people here. You're right, China is likely the biggest violator because they have all the chemicals there cheaply available.

I do enjoy people watching at airports, and because I am easily entertained, just like you I can have fun simply wandering around and looking for new chairs to sleep in or snacks to eat 😃.

This made me laugh because I used to use this tactic but later abandoned it after one of my budget trips had me on a layover in Ukraine for 15 hours and there was nothing at all to do there, plus the outlets for plugging in stuff were a weird type I have never seen before and even my adaptor didn't work on them.

I've had some bad ones through the years, the worst being a 14-hour layover with the family in Jedda, Saudi Arabia, on the way to Ecuador. There was no internet there, but I later learned after a google search that is the worst ranked airport in the world. I totally agree with the rating, apparently Jedda is for East African migrant workers and people doing the Hajj, but the Saudis use Riyadh's airport to keep the poor and black folk segregated from the elites. We didn't even have a place to sit until after 6 hours a random Ethiopian guy offered his chair to our youngest daughter.

Yeah, you win. There was plenty of places to sit, internet, and a well-stocked pub in Kiev. I wonder if the lack of net in S.A. was because they censor everything there.

I hope your stop overs are enjoyable. Prayingh for your safety and your family too

I do enjoying flying a wee bit because it's the only place I can ever get deep sleep. Without wifi I can't work and am forced to simply relax and submit myself to the travels. 🙏🙏🙏

Oh those are pre-loved clothes? We call it ukay-ukay here.

Pre-loved indeed, and here they are known as "muey-tuk," which translates to "one water," so I have no idea why this is the term for pre-owned clothes.

One water? It's far from it's real meaning right? But anyway thats how people call it.

Some names for things just don't make sense some times. My wife says it may be because the clothes have been washed more than once, but it's just a guess 😃.

Oh might be she is right.
