Glad you found us, there are around 10 or so of us non-SE Asians living and/or traveling in this part of the world, a handful in Thailand. There are also a few SE Asians living and working abroad, and I particularly love seeing a place through foreign perspectives.
I haven't had much time to engage the last few weeks, but I have seen your posts and enjoy reading. My wife and I live here in Cambodia on the Thai border with Trat right where Thailand narrows and has a 1/2 km wide strip of beach that extends very far south. Even though we are so close to the border, there is no legal crossing here, so it's ends up being one of the most remote places in Cambodia. The border guards once hiked us through the forest and we met Thai soldiers, saw a 4-lane highway, high voltage power lines, felt very modern over there.
Wow, thank you for sharing. I was aware that you are now living in Cambodia but didn't know it was so close to the Thai border but still so remote. I have never been to Cambodia, not sure I'll go this time. I'll go to Singapore at the end of January and then probably spend some time in Malaysia before going back to Thailand. At least that's how I feel at the moment 🙂
