Hi Everyone! I’m Katherine Joy Polgar but you can call me Katie for short. I was born and raised in Cotabato City, Philippines. But now I live in Slovakia. At 38 years old, I am happily married to Slovakian man. I have a beautiful daughter named Aya and she's 10 years old. And my husband has a child as well. With two beautiful kids everyday is filled with surprises, love, and exciting moments for us. As a wife and mother of two, I have to embrace the opportunity to create meaningful experiences with my loved ones.
Before coming here to Slovakia, I worked as a Telemarketer in Makati, Customer Service, Networker and a Distributor of Dropshipping E-commerce in the Philippines. I handled my own Facebook Pages like answering inquiries, posting, engagements like Social Media Manager. It's my online business during Pandemic days. I worked in Dubai, UAE for two years. Where I met Aya’s father. Were working in the same company but he was assigned to another branch. Our love story ended so I became a single mom. I did not expect it because all I wanted was to have a complete family. But we are not meant to be and I know that everything has a reason. I trust God's plan for me and my daughter.
The feeling of being single wasn’t easy, I'm so scared. More questions in my head if I can make it. How's the life of my daughter, I blame myself for everything. All I did was to love him but still I'm broken. Hormones for being pregnant, stress, still working because I need to finish my contract. I'm also afraid because what if the police in Dubai catch me and I'm pregnant. I don't like to go to jail and raise my kid inside the prison. Dubai is so strict in terms of being pregnant without marriage.
STRESS STRES STRESS EVERYDAY. Praying that time goes by so fast and I can go home. May 1, 2024, the day of my flight going to the Philippines.
END of contract and END of our relationship. Even though I try to work it out, still NOTHING. All is useless. I said to myself IT’S ENOUGH. It's time to start a new journey with my baby. I need to love myself MORE and ask for God’s guidance. And I know that my family is there for us to love us unconditionally.
The day when my precious Aya came into my life. Happiness is overwhelming but still scary. The reality of raising a child ALONE hit me so so hard. The challenges that I will face start the day she arrives.
Fast forward, I dream of having a complete and loving family- a father that will protect, love and support my daughter. So, I decided to try a dating site. Most of the dating sites want something. You know what I mean. Not a serious thing they want. Something that will please their needs. More of talking and getting to know each other. And it's something off automatic block. Finally!!! Viola. I found the man of my life. He is so understanding and loves us both deeply.
Later, he decided to visit me in the Philippines. Were both excited to meet each other personally. The long wait is over-years of long distance relationship. I finally feel him close to me. When he arrived at the airport, he was so nervous. He thought he wasn't the one for me and he felt ugly-but it was not true. His appearance and character are what I adore and love me the most.
From there, everything just fell into place. We went to Siargao. Which is first for both of us. The amazing and beautiful paradise and love is so perfect. And we didn't want to leave the place. Two weeks in the paradise, making memories together, scrolling around the paradise, island hopping, going on food trips and simply enjoying each other's company. EVERYTHING is perfect. After that, he talked to me seriously. And said, Láska (which means love in Slovak) after this vacation, you will start processing your documents so you can visit me in Slovakia and soon we will get married. OMG!!.Butterflies in my stomach, excited, happy and Thanks God for everything. I was beyond HAPPY SO SO HAPPY.
He must go back to Slovakia for his job and document processing, and I need to do the same. We all know how difficult it is to process documents in the Philippines. I need this and that and it takes time and effort. So tiring but I need to accomplish everything. Plan things ahead and accompanied by prayers.
Then it's my visa interview. Sad to say it was denied. We both admit that we rushed everything and did not do some research. but we did not give up. We are both positive and like I said to him everything is in God's plan, like the same thing I pray to God that I have him in my life. He said we will get married in the Philippines. Of Course it's a big YES for me. Start again the documents, documents and documents. And Pandemic came, and we need to move our wedding. Waited for 2 years before he could travel again.
The day has finally come—our civil wedding day, surrounded by my closest family. At last, I am officially Mrs. Polgar. It’s the beginning of our new chapter together. After the civil wedding, we had a simple lunch in the restaurant. And the next day we travelled together with my family to Samal Island. Three days and two nights on the island felt so amazing. Another memory to treasure FOREVER. Then the Polgar family went to Coron Island. And from there, the rest is just beautiful memories from our travels together.
Fast track: Finally! we got our VISA its time to go to Europa. Its now a reality were moving to Slovakia. Time to explore and be with my family, TOGETHER. Everything is new for us, so challenging things waiting for us. God guide us always.
Aya and I are beyond happy, excited to start our new life in Slovakia. Aya will go to school there. It will be different from the school in the Philippines. and everything will be new—learning the language, adapting to the culture, discovering new foods, and much more. But with my husband's love and support, we’ll face it all together. We're ready for everything to face new adventures and challenges.
Everything is falling into place. I have a job, Aya is doing well in school, and she can already speak Slovak. Seeing her adapt so well makes me so proud. And I ask my daughter which school do you like to study?. Here in Slovakia or in the Philippines. Her answer is here mama I love it. Speaking of my language, as for me—hmmm, just a little! I’m still studying because it’s really challenging for me. Some days are challenging, but I remind myself to be patient. Our journey has only begun and there we will face more challenges together as a couple and family. Experiences to deal with and life lessons we will embrace. Like in our wedding vows: “For better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health till death do us part.” We will face our challenges with love, patience and understanding. We will grow old together and make more memories. The greatest treasure in our lives is our children. Us parents will make sure to support and love their passion and dreams to be successful in their lives.
