Our main project is the Tiger Cave Temple in Krabi but we also maintain some level of assistance at the smaller temples in the region as well. There is a centrally located temple complex downtown in Krabi called Krabi Noi Temple and this is one of our projects. We don't devote as much time to this one and thankfully we don't have to because far fewer strays are dropped off here because of its downtown location. I am only speculating here but I suspect that the lack of drop offs are because of the fact that would be animal abandoners would have witnesses if there were to do it here.
They do have some dogs though and we stop by every now and then to make sure everyone is ok.
this one cracks me up because the dog looks like it doesn't have a head
Just like our other temples the monks stay in contact with us about potential illness or injury or when a new animal joins the existing pack
This temple is a case of how we were able to nip a infestation of mange and ticks in the bud and all but completely eliminate the issue. I feel as thought the presence of the insects may have significantly died out because there are no other creatures for them to feed on here since there are no monkeys and all the cats and dogs have been treated.
Therefore, all the animals here have nice healthy coats and this is extremely rare thing to have happen at a temple where parasites just run wild. We hope that our documenting of this process is something that we can distribute to other temples around the nation so that they will try the same tactics. It really isn't that expensive in the grand scheme of things - roughly $10 per animal - and if all temples were to do this a great deal of suffering could be prevented.
our visit isn't all about business though. We hand out a ton of treats and give belly rubs to the dogs that will let us. Even though the dogs here are quite friendly, it is always a good idea to use extreme caution when approaching any stray dog. Let them come to you and check you out and if it is clear they are cool with you, then and only then should you attempt to handle them.

It is a good thig that less strays are dropped off here plus on the upside when a new dog arrives it would be obvious to spot immediately and maybe not so at the bigger drop off points at other temples.
Now that we have the monks letting us know it is much easier for us to deal with new additions right away rather than after they have already had pups.
Keep up the enthusiasm, sir. Your hands are very useful for all creatures.
