Hello everyone. 13 - 15 April of every year is the Songkran Festival of Thailand. Me and my family didn't go anywhere or splash water on Songkran with other people. My son (autistic) doesn't like loud noises and crowds. My son will get frustrated and hurt himself. So we can't go anywhere.
Today's Songkran activities of me and my family. This morning we prepare things to pour water on the hands of revered elders and ask for blessing. Me and my wife bought groceries at a grocery store from a nearby village. When we returned home, the wife collected codiaeum variegatum, flowers, incense sticks, candles and banana leaves to make flower cones for pour water on the hands of revered elders and ask for blessing.
Me, my wife and granddaughter pour water on the hands of wife's mother and ask for blessing this morning first at my wife's mother's house. The wife's mother's house is on the same land as our house.
After that, my wife and wife's mother prepare to make desserts for making merit at the temple tomorrow. Tomorrow, April 15, is the Thai New Year. Northern Thai people will go to temples to make merit, listen to the sermon, pay respect to monks, receive blessing from the monks, etc.
Wife and wife's mother making stuffed dough pyramid dessert. Stuffed dough pyramid dessert is a dessert that people in my village like to make to make merit at the temple.
Ingredients for making stuffed dough pyramid dessert.
- glutinous rice flour
- egg
- coconut
- banana leaf
How to make stuffed dough pyramid dessert.
Step 1 Roasted grated coconut flake with sugar in a pan.
Step 2 Mix glutinous rice flour with egg, salt, sugar and water in a container. Knead all ingredients together.
Step 3 Put the mixed glutinous rice flour and stuff it with sugar roasted grated coconut flake. And mold the dough into a round shape.
Step 4 Wrap the stuffed dough dessert with banana leaves, wrapped in a pyramid shape. And put the stuffed dough pyramid dessert in the pot.
Step 5 Put all stuffed dough pyramid dessert in the pot and steam on the gas stove. Steam for a while until the dessert is cooked.
Done, stuffed dough pyramid dessert.
When the dessert was finished, this afternoon me, wife and granddaughter went to my wife's relative's house which was in the village and near our house. We went to the wife's relative's house to pour water on the hands of revered elders and ask for blessing. And go home. After that, We don't have any activities to do for today.
