Hello everyone. Last month, my wife and I journey to a sacred place in the district where we live. This sacred place is a small temple in a rural community. This temple is called Wat Wiwekkaram.
Brief information about the temple.
Wat Wiwekkaram is a small temple with not much space. This temple is the common monastery of Mae Sun Noi village. The temple was built in year A D. 1928 or 96 years ago. And in year A.D. 1994 or 30 years ago the temple received royal granting of the land to a particular temple by announcing in royal decree.
Journey to the Wat Wiwekkaram, Mae Sun Noi Village, Mae Sun Subdistrict.
This temple is about 15 kilometers from our house. We traveled on a rural road from my village to highway 107. And traveled on highway 107 to rural road 3004 to Mae Sun Noi village. Mae Sun Noi Village is another quiet rural village. Most people are farmers. And these are some of the views in this village on the trip.
Entrance of the temple.
There are 2 entrances to the temple. When we arrived at the temple. We see a simple steel entrance arch. And two white lion statues on the pillars of the wall between the entrance.
Another entrance to the temple. This entrance has a simple steel entrance arch with two white lion statues on the pillars of the wall between the entrance as well. But to the left of the entrance we see a name plate of the temple.
The only sacred architecture in the temple.
This temple does not have a pagoda, ordination hall (ubosot) or pavilion with buddha image. There is only one buddha image hall (viharn).
This buddha image hall (viharn) is made of bricks plastered with cement and painted white. Decorated with gold color stucco patterns in Lanna style like most temples in northern Thailand.
But at the entrance to the temple there are two lion statues on pillars, which is different from other temples I have visited. Most other temples have two serpent statues on the railing.
Inside the temple there are many buddha images. The main buddha image is a buddha image in the attitude of subduing mara.
The inside decoration of the buddha image hall (viharn), decorated with oil paintings on the walls. And stucco patterns on the pillars.
Oil paintings in the temple.
In addition to the oil paintings in the buddha image hall (viharn), there are other oil paintings on the walls of other building in the temple too.
Other atmosphere in the temple.
Finally, I’ll go on to share about other atmospheres in the temple. The overall atmosphere of the temple is a wide courtyard with trees. And there are buildings that I don't know, what are these buildings?
These are the stories and photos I want to share for this post. Invite everyone to see and enjoy my stories and photos. Have a great day. See you next time. Thank you for your support and visiting my post. Bye 🤗
