Have you ever walked around and you see that the place has changed? What do you feel?
This morning, I walked around my neighborhood and I saw a lot of changes. The location was used to be a green area but today, it has been built a long bridge and some buildings. The development of TOL street has changed the landscape here.
Rice field has become street and some houses become long street borders.
This is a bridge over a TOL street. This place used to be rice field. Now it looks dry and hot. The trees are far next to the bridge. There are also new buildings on the side of the street.
On one side, the development gives more opportunities for some people but on the other side, there is a destruction of the environment.
The positive side is that the economy grows fast. The traditional market has been built here. People feel more comfortable shopping and selling.
Every morning, hundreds of people going to the market. There are new counters that provide various of products from vegetables to processed food. People are closer now to get what they need. In the past, they had to ride motorcycle for 15 minutes to buy some vegetables. Now, they can walk from home for only 5 minutes. This condition is comfortable for moms who always go shopping.
One area that I still enjoy for walking around is the lake. It still exists with the green trees on the sides of it. I also like to go fishing in the lake.
I walked home. I felt warm because the sun shone brightly. Here in Indonesia, Bekasi, (mainly) is still dry season. The temperature was hot this morning.
I think this is happening everywhere. I remember seeing vacant lands around our neighborhood but now businesses are built in them. Changes happen, indeed.
You are right, one thing that I was disappointed about the change, the policy maker kill almost all the ecosystems. Preserving some natural ecosystem like rice field will be important because rice field is the major farming here
This article of yours is much more related to our Place here. There are lots of changes, I felt sad the time when I remembering those old place specially when I was a little kid. For me, we can't avoid changes it is a part of a progressive situations, I guess.
That is right, the change is a progress but the policy maker should think of preserving green area and public spaces for kids too. In fact, everything turns to be streets and buildings
That is also a saddest part we really encountered now-a-days, we hope it will have a perfect and nice place for children that they may abled to play and running around watching green and tall trees. We hope it will happen.
