Did you know? Bukidnon is the "pineapple capital" of the Philippines.
Bukidnon is considered to be the "pineapple capital" of the Philippines. Its fertile soil and cool highland climate help produce thousands of tons annually.

Last week, I had the opportunity to visit the expansive pineapple plantation of Del Monte Philippines in Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon. The sight was truly beautiful, and I was amazed by the vastness of the fields where countless pineapples are grown. The area, known as Camp Philips, is also referred to as the "Home of the Footballers" due to its rich football tradition.
When I toured the plantation, I noticed that, surprisingly, there weren't any ripe pineapples to be found, likely because they had been harvested recently. In some areas, the pineapples had just been planted, and some plants were not yet bearing fruit.
The landscape is dominated by vibrant green fields, which create a stunning "sea of green" that stretches as far as the eye can see. Bukidnon is recognized as a key player in the pineapple industry, with Del Monte being a major contributor to the region's economy and providing livelihoods for many residents.
The weather in Bukidnon is quite unpredictable. Often, the sun shines brightly, giving the impression of good weather, only for dark clouds to form suddenly. This shift can happen multiple times in a single day, leading to gloomy, cool afternoons without any sunshine. I particularly enjoy the weather in Manolo especially in Dahilayan, which is affectionately referred to as "Little Baguio" in Mindanao.
The plantation is located near Manolo Fortich. If you look towards the mountains in the background, you will see that behind that mountain lies part of Cagayan de Oro City. We traveled there and reached the city, and it was quite an adventure traveling from Camp Philips to Libona and then to Cagayan de Oro. Overall, it was a short but enjoyable journey.
Upon entering Camp Philips, you'll notice a large pineapple statue, which marks the location of the Del Monte plant and office. Adjacent to the office is a wide soccer field, known for its exceptional quality and considered to have some of the best pitches in Mindanao.
This is a trivia about the huge pineapple statue in Camp Philipps. On February 21, 2013, the Del Monte compound was attacked by rebels from the New People's Army. The attackers pretended to be soldiers to gain entry into the compound. It was a horrifying event; they burned several trucks, ransacked the offices, and destroyed the iconic statue by ramming it with a truck. They don't realize that this pineapple icon symbolizes that community and no crime ever happened here before only after the rebels created ruckus.
This barangay road leads not only to the vast pineapple plantation but also to Dahilayan, Bukidnon. The entire area is surrounded by pineapple fields. In addition to its beautiful landscapes and fertile valleys, agriculture in Bukidnon plays a significant role in the country's economy. I am proud to have visited this remarkable place and to share its rich beauty with you. "Wakanda Forever!"
Thank you for visiting my blog and see you next time! Ciao!

I hope someday I can also take a tour of the pineapple plantation in Bukidnon. Wow, the area of the plantation is so vast. It is just a bit disappointing that there were no fruits that time due to recent harvest perhaps. I didn't know that football is also popular in that place too. I wish I can reach this place in the future.
Yes, you can do it. Take some time off to see the beauty of Bukidnon and the vast pineapple plantations known as the "sea of greens."
Yes, and hopefully I'd get a chance to pick the fruit by myself.
Gotta save money for this huh... Thank you😊
I believe it's not permitted to pick fruit by the road. However, I know that during the season, there are affordable pineapples sold by local vendors.
