The Rainforest Cafe -
The nostalgic charm of this restaurant is a big draw for anyone who wishes to enjoy Chinese cuisine. One of the cool features here at the restaurant is that every order is made to order and the chef can cook as many dishes as he possibly can at any one given time.
There are not many restaurants like this anymore. A Chinese restaurant tucked somewhere in the city. This restaurant is quite popular. I was here for lunch and as I walked into the restaurant, the first thing I noticed was the smell. The smell of old furniture.
This restaurant is on the ground floor of the Miri Hotel.
How Asian chefs cook
In any Chinese Restaurant's menu, there are hundreds of items to choose and the chef is able to memorize everything and cook at a speed unseen.
This hotel has been here for a long long time.
Rainforest Cafe looks quite clean.
Most restaurants these days are modern. This is a restaurant that caters to families and older generations of Miri. It was lunch but it was slightly quiet but it is usually packed at night. They have good food. An afternoon sitting there enjoying my coffee with my wife while eating some hot Chinese food.
There is something magical about a steaming cup of milk - smooth, rich, and embracing with a balance of bold coffee and creamy milk.
Rice - The staple of most South East Asian nations
A bowl of hot rice is definitely appreciated. This is usually how rice is packed here at this restaurant.
Baby Maize
The baby maize is stir-fried and this dish showcases the chef's technique and experience as well as skill in cooking. When it is raw, the baby maize is usually hard but a good chef is able to cook it till it becomes quite soft as well as flavourful. Sesame oil, and garlic sauce elevate the dish giving it a savory dept. A healthy meal that we can eat without feeling guilty at all.

The other dish we ordered that is from my view heavenly in taste if it is cooked right is the
MAPO Tofu
Originally, from Szechuan China, this dish is made with tofu, ground meat, and a spicy sauce made from doubanjiang (fermented broad bean paste), garlic and many other seasonings.
The best Mapo tofu is a dish where the chef is able to make the dish hot. Tofu when it comes out from the fridge is usually cold.
Should you visit Rainforest Cafe? In my opinion, this depends on whether you plan to bring your family or not. If you eat here alone, I think it is better to eat at another place. However, you can still eat here by yourself if you want to enjoy the vintage feeling.
