If it's full here in Miri, it means the food is good. Sarawakians love to eat and eateries are always full. We would choose food over anything else. The first thing to ask someone is
" HAVE YOU EATEN?"
If it's no, then are you hungry?
HOPOH
Captured this busy moment. Rows of Dim Sum being steamed hot. We ordered some dim sum and local delights.
WISMA HOPOH
This building is a couple of decades old. The font used tells the tale. The parking space is always full. I had to park outside while I was here.
It looks like a building of the past.
At times, it is definitely refreshing to be here at a building that is old amid the modern buildings around the city. It feels fresh. The old feels unique. special.
Eyeballs
She looks angry? Hahaha.. maybe I took this picture at a wrong angle. She wasn't angry. Why would she? She's going to be on Hive.
The man of many experience
If someone is old and he's making food. I am sure the food is great. Why? He has patience. He is not in a hurry. His daughter is also there to help him with the ordering. The smoke from the Dim Sum is ... beautiful. Water evaporating.
Local delights
Yummy little treats. As I am typing and looking at these food, I am feeling hungry. I wish I could 3D print out these. Eat them.
Fried dough, local kuih ( Till now I am not sure what to call this in English), vegetarian dumplings.
What do you do with these delicious fried doughs?
I usually dunk them into my cup of coffee. It absorbs the taste and you've got a double combo of confusing taste. Coffee bitter Saltiness from the dough. It's a strange delicious taste of them combined. The perfect combo of what is Umami to the Japanese.
These Kuih are delicious. Made of two layers. Known as "Seri Muka" in Sarawak.
These are pre made a couple of hours prior to me having them on these plates. They have to be steamed for a couple of hours just to get to this. Two layers. The bottom layer is made of glutinous rice flour and the top part is a sweet soft layer of pandan flavour goodness.
Dim Sum and Egg Tarts
Sio Bi or meat in wonton skin. Steamed. The Malaysian way of making food is the fusion of cultures. Everything's blended together in a way that you have food that is different yet delicious. I am not sure if I am bias or not.
My wife ordered this
A soup of organs. Yes. Organs.
Yam puff that is fried
The man of many experience fried these and we had a chance to eat them hot. I could still hear the sizzling sound from the oil bursting inside these when they came to my table.
It taste like a cheese ball fried with some meat inside. The crispy crust makes this delicious to eat. I hope that you had a great time reading this post. Really appreciate it for you to read all the way till here. Comment and let me read your wonderful post. Have a great day ahead.
