My sister and her two handsome boys go back. Miri Airport is busy again. Simple design for an airport. It doesn't have any direct international flights except to Singapore. The other destinations transit via Sabah or Kuching then Kuala Lumpur.
Everyone travels. A report a couple of weeks ago recorded 5 million travellers within Malaysia. A good start for the year of 2022.
Miri Airport
The good thing about this airport is that, it only takes a couple of minutes to arrive at the departure hall. Singapore and Kuala Lumpur airports are the farthest. To get to Kuala Lumpur airport from the city, it is an hour then walk to the departure hall takes another half an hour.

Is it busy?
Yes, crowds can be seen in the airport. This is the first floor. For checked in baggages, you usually need to get them scanned. For hand carry baggage, they are usually brought on the airplane via security checks at the departure hall. At this point of time, Malaysia doesn't allow any pork related meat products to be brought on airports due to the rampant increase of swine flu that affects poultry.
Everyone getting their passports ready to be checked and luggages checked in. If you do not plan on checking in your luggages, the better way would be just checking in online and an e-boarding pass issued via app. Saving the world and trees one paper at a time.

Up the escalator
No trolley from this point on. Only humans. On my instagram feed, travelling. No Covid anymore. Yes, there is, but that doesn't stop us. No. Defeated by a virus? Nope. We've all been locked up so long that our urge to escape far exceeds our fears.
While I was on the steps of the escalator on my way up, I took this photo. In the future, this place is going to change. I've read some expansion plans that have been put in place ready to be executed once the pandemic dies off. We are reaching the end of the tunnel. Malaysia is busy having political problems rather than dealing with the pandemic. The most corrupt ex-prime minister has been denied access to his corrupted wealth by only allowing him to withdraw 250k a month? What? While a lot of Malaysians are having financial problems.

Ahh Miri airport. I was a regular traveler through this airport 2, 3 decades ago. I haven't visited Miri for more than 20 years though.
Hi hi.. It was different back then right? I still remember it to be much much smaller.. too bad at that time there wasn't any internet.. if not I would have take lots of photos as memory..
