Have you ever experienced being a new homeowner?
It's fun right if you get to have to chance to have your very own home where you don't need to worry about the routine of moving or finding a new place to stay.
But little did you know that owning a home actually comes with a very interesting experience too.🤭
You got to learn how to be your very own plumber, carpenter and so many more.
Fixing up your own furniture because this it is way cheaper and so much fun too.
So I have found out that there are alot of things you have to learn on your own to maintain your own home except if you don't mind breaking your pocket every once in awhile for those little little things that needs to be changed or fixed.
Last year I had started to learn more about the basic of plumbing on my own and also what tools to buy and how to fixed it because the water that was supply to our house was so smelly and dirty.
Had to do some research on what kind of pre-filters that will work out for our water situation.
It was quite an experience and journey until today.
I know people would have say isn't that supposed to be a men's job?
But well of cos I did need my husband's strong hands to tighten those piping connections up or for the drilling job but as for how the connections are needed to be connected and how it is done I am naturally more talented to figure it all out by myself rather than my husband.
It was way too complicated for him to figure it out.
He said he would just call a plumber if it was for him to figure it out.😆
Actually I did find that this was very interesting too.
I can say that the brainstorming part was actually quite challenging at the beginning because I have zero knowledge on plumbing but I managed to figure it out after doing some research.
There is one cons of staying in an apartment that is you can't install a backwash filter from the main connection that supplies to all the pipes in your house so which means you have to spend more and install individually to certain place that you want to have a clean and filtered water supply.
This is my pre-filter before our water filter machine. Even though our water filter machine has it's very own filter cartridge but it gets clogged up too easily.
The first time we only installed two pre-filter but because it keeps getting clogged within 3weeks and it has became way too expensive to keep changing the pre-filter cartridges so we have decided to upgrade into a four pre-filter.
Sadly this wasn't the solution too.😅
By now you all might have figured out how dirty is the water here.
The last option was to install a mini backwash filter before the pre-filters so that we can flushed out those dirt and residue before it can be filtered into clean water to the rest of the filters.
Finally that last option works well and we don't need to worry about our pre-filters and water filter machine getting clogged up again.
So far it has been going great for a month now.
So today I have got to replace the water faucet for my washing machine connection because the old one was leaking.
A new connection with extra pipe valve for extra water control.
And now say no more to water leakage.
I did add in some zipties for extra secure and grip for the washing machine connection hose.
This was the old water faucet that was leaking like crazy and I had to bandage it few times for a temporary fix but it still leaks after sometime. Haha
It was still quite new though but the quality was really bad and it was quite cheap too.
What was your experience like as a new homeowner?
My experience was that no matter how conscientious the previous owner was, there is going to be a lot of broken stuff when you move in.
Yes very true indeed.A 2nd hand house would be much worse but even though a brand new house is also the same.
After one year, there is sure something that will suddenly breaks and needs urgent fixing.😅
Learning for us must continue without end because it changes the way we experience our lives.thanks for your sharing.
Yes very true indeed.Everyday is a learning experience too.
Thank you for dropping by too.😉
Have a nice day!
I don't have that kind of patience sis. Maybe in other things, but not in plumber things😁😬
I didn't know I have this kind of patience too until I was into it sis.🤣ahaha
It was quite fun though figuring out for a solution.Hehe
Yes I would agree that this plumber thing is not for everyone though.
It is definitely quite complicated if you have no idea what you are dealing with.🤭
