Ingenuity paid off...
When I attended the fiesta in our village about a week ago, I passed-by this patio full of beautiful flowers. I was curious why so plenty of visitors were there to take pictures. I always passed-by this area but I never went up because I thought it was a private front yard of the people living in the two apartment blocks.
I was surprised to see the ingenuity of the people living in the blocks, they have created masterpieces out of simple materials... old tires, pots, tubes, painted tin cans, pots hangers.
Just have a look at their creations, they have lovely imaginations on how things are arranged. Aren´t these creations wonderful!?
And what about this one, it´s a windmill made from two clay pots including a water well with a girl sitting on a bench.... !
Then I have observed how this tires were painted red and orange and the tires have been used a sort of a pot. The one in the middle is a plastic pipe, must have been a scrap and also painted on the color of the pot holders with the pots in the color of the tires so that the whole looks like a custom made planter.
Here is another tube attached to the wall that holds tin cans artistically painted. I think the top and the bottom is decorated with a candle holder that holds the potted plants.
This is also one creation I love, made of two old tires painted red and blue, then a piece of round wood was cut that serves as a table with a pot holder in the middle. also for either flower arrangement or in this case, a potted Poinsettia. Anyone can sit on the white bench when tired.
The other end of the bench is also created equally with red painted tires and the table has a clay pot artistically painted. The ceramic pot design must have been bought at a ceramic shop.
Flower pots hanging on the walls were painted nicely and visitors can see how these plants were lovingly taken cared of.
In the so many years of living in Spain, I have seen wonderful wall gardens with colorful pots, usually in blue and mostly planted with geraniums....
Spanish Wall in my former (Viennese) garden...
I liked what I saw everywhere in the villages I visited in Spain and I always wanted to have those potted plants too on my Viennese wall. So I brought along the metal braces all the ways from Spain and painted the pots green to give them a uniform look and planted them with red geraniums. So this had been my Spanish wall until 2020. We moved to an apartment with balcony coz we were tired of tending the garden...but perhaps I will do this again in the next planting season and continue with my container gardening.
A very creative recycling ideas. Helps too in a making a greener environment.
I totally agree with you my dear...Here´s to a cleaner environment! Cheers !
Wow! My dream garden! I screen shot your pics so in the future I can have my garden like this. Super Wow to your Spanish Wall, I really love it!
Then time to get things done after typhoon Odette visited you... I hope you didn´t have bad damages to your house. So you and hubby are fine now?
😯 I should show this to my Mom that recycle goods can make the garden pretty too. Thanks for sharing. Wishing Sis and your family Merry Christmas and Happy New Year in advance 😬.
Thank you for your kind words.. Appreciate you dropped-by.. Oh yeah, I think your Mom will like when she sees the creations here.. Have a great Tuesday ahead.
Merry Christmas and a bright Happy New Year! Be blessed!
Wow, the colours are so playful it creates a good vibe to the passersby, those tires can be a great set of a DIY benches too.
Eversince, your Spanish wall is an inspiration especially here in our place that has plenty of wild bamboos.
Thanks for this, I'm planning to re-arrange our garden with old tires some other time.
Yeah, do that and of course I would like to see the pics of your arrangements.... I think your little inday will like your idea....
Very nice initiative to help the environment! My family and I have also done something similar, my mother loves to grow plants, and we've been using used plastic and canned containers to grow our plants.
That's wonderful! I have also seen plenty of people using those soft drink bottles being planted with salad greens like pechay (pakchoi) or herbs . I have tried growing my lettuce in skyflakes tin cans and it was a success.
Nice! That's awesome!
Beautiful creations indeed Ate! with the painted pots, cans, tires and all. Amazing!
Oh diba ang ganda.... we really can get ideas from this patio for our garden projects.
Wow, such nice patio and the arrangements of the recycled stuff... Good ideas for the gsrden and the usage of those old tires. amazing really.
Indeed. you can also do this in the farm of your lolo...
I like to see the way it can be reused and not wasted, the tires and the windmill are my favorites, burning tires is something that does a lot of damage to the planet, hopefully the same thing will be done in many parts, it is a beauty and generates admiration
I do agree with you, I just hope a lot of people will follow this example of reusing the old tires. Yeah, the windmill is my favorite too and it looked so original the way it was built. Have a great week ahead!
These are so pretty and creative. I love that the passion of gardening doesn't have to go, just because you might not have the ground to grow in.
I agree...there are so many ways to really grow anything. In my former garden.. I used cracker containers to plant my lettuce, had been successful in growing them and I have collected these containers over the years..I think I had about more than 20. I out them up on the rooftop to avoid the slugs on my garden ground..
I struggle with anything in containers come summer here. We get a lot of days around 40°C and up, so if I forget water at any point, they're gone. Some people manage it, but I'm too scatterbrained. 😆 I have great admiration for anyone growing in containers.
Oh, I know the heat is unbearable for the container plants, but there are some vegetable sorts that stand the heat... We do not get that 40° in Summer in Vienna so my container plants are doing fine at 32°C or so. Here in Spain, it could go up to more than 40°C in Summer, but I only have my Mediterranean plants. They stood the heat even without being watered. I thought I might show you my past lettuce in cracker containers ...
They look amazing! I wonder if I could get some sort of grow room going indoors. I want lettuce in summer, for cool, fresh make, but lettuce likes cool roots. Currently all ours are going to seed. I only ever get them growing well in winter when I want warmer meals. 😕
If I would have the chance and space...I like to grow my salad greens and tomatoes using hydroponic system, you won´t need soil, just water in cycle and nutrients... But I would like to have it certified organic. One can even grow salad indoor with LED lights using this system and added to that grown them vertically to save space.
If you have heard about the Plastic tents in Almeria (Spain), most of the vegetables distributed in Europe come from there and most farmers use hydroponic system because of space issues. Most farmers in the EU are subsidised and are strictly regulated, so the farmers can´t just grow as they like.
I'd love to add aquaponics to our growing system (my husband loves fish). Just where to fit it, though...

Such attention to detail, I can see why this little space caught your attention. I love the use of recycled materials, so creative.
I really love this place..the neighbors got together and create an amazing project 🌹🌺💮
Wow, it looks so amazing. What an organized place and colorful.
Oh dibah! I´ll make those wall hanging plants again come Spring. Thanks for dropping by.
Very interesting, they can make some beautiful pots and vases with the flowers in them. One thing that I amazed, most of the materials are from recycled stuffs.
Yep, recycling of materials is good for the environment... and good ideas with the tires that saves our earth from pollution. Thanks.
I love this so much. It's giving me ideas to reuse things for plants!
Yep, me too! Each of the creation is inspiring!
Fiesta time! Something i miss. Its great to see such colour in a communal space.

Yep, really nice noh! Old tires have many uses, in Africa, aside from flower pots, they make them into "tsinelas". Glad you like the wall garden, I´ll be making them again come Spring .
