Lavish preparation for the New Year celebration is not necessary. We do have the same experience. We're welcoming 2023 by not staying at home because we were not preparing anything. We were invited by my sister-in-law to have dinner at her house. We were still happy though.
New Year is still a blessing by Him. So don't be sad, be happy for another year given to being healthy and able.
