A Trip Down Memory Lane: Memories Worth Remembering

in ASEAN HIVE COMMUNITYlast year (edited)

As we go on with life, we realized how things evolve as time goes by, but what never changes are the memories we created that shape us into who we are right now, may it be through the experiences we’ve been into and with the best people who taught us wisdom that we can carry on wherever and whenever we are.

As I’m having a general cleaning earlier, I’ve found my old phone which unfortunately cannot be opened as the battery’s not functioning anymore. It became bloated, but that doesn’t stop me from having access to my old files on that phone. Luckily, I’ve found the SD Card I’ve inserted on it before which purposely serves as the main storage as my old phone had a very low internal storage.
I then look for my SD Adapter which I could insert my SD card into and access the files through my laptop, and boom! I found my precious photos which bring back so many memories that seem like a time machine where I could have a trip down the memory lane.

The first photo on the list is the one I captured way back in 2017 when I was still in 10th grade.

This was the time when we were having our practice for a role play performance in our Filipino subject, particularly the reenactment of Jose Rizal’s El Filibusterismo. At that time, we all agreed to practice near the river because it was more convenient to get there, given the location of our respective residence.
However, our practice was more on 50% chit-chatting, 30% eating, and the most important one which got the lowest rate of 20% was practicing, though our performance ended up good. That was always the case whenever we’re having school practice before, funny, but that strengthened our bond as classmates. I hope we can spend our time hanging out again in the future, it may not be due to academic purposes, but just for fun as adults.

Second, this was taken in 2017 as well, when I am doing my school project in our Science subject.

This was obviously a diorama which I didn’t know how to do at first since I’m not familiar with it, so me and my classmates even went to the nearest computer shop in our place and searched what a diorama was. We didn't have an internet connection at home before, and we can’t afford to buy a load and register for an internet promo. That’s why we chose the most affordable way of surfing the net, through paying 1 peso for 5 minutes of using a computer. We got to spend only 10 pesos for that and charann!!! I made this diorama and was graded a decent mark.

Third, this was another 2017 photo which was taken in a mini chapel in our barangay. This was captured when I’m having a 2-day seminar for my “kumpil” or confirmation ceremony as a catholic. For everyone’s information, confirmation is very important for us Catholics, as it is part of our religion’s seven sacraments, which are religious rites that we practice up to these days.

As you can see, maybe you can’t comprehend what’s written on the chart as it was written in our local dialect. These were the prayers we had to memorize before the confirmation ceremony. On the left side was “Manisia Ak” or “I Believe” in English, known as The Apostle’s Creed. On the other hand, on the right side was the “Ama Mi” or commonly known as “Our Father” and "Ave Maria" or "Hail Mary". Memorizing these prayers was quite easy for me at that time since I’m very familiar with them since I was in grade one, thanks to the catechists who visit us every Monday in our school.

Next, this fourth photo was taken in the year 2018 (Wow! a year has passed from the previous ones lol) when we’re having a chill time in our classmate’s house during lunch time.

At this moment, more typically, we were supposed to eat in the school, but since we like to experience being in a new environment, we decided to accept our classmate’s offer to eat our lunch at their house. Their home is just walking distance from our school so we don’t have to hurt our feet going there.
Their house is simple yet relaxing to live in as it was made of “sawali” or a sheet of woven bamboo strips that made it very Filipino.

And last one, of course how can I not miss my little sister’s cute old photo when she was just 2 years old?

This was captured in 2018, and all I can say is that she’s very adorable, even until now that she’s 7. As far as I remember, I just got home at this moment, and following my routine, I immediately changed my clothes, had my snacks, and babysit her for the rest of the day. That was always my routine when she was still so young which somehow repeated now that I have my baby nephew.

Looking at these photos makes me feel nostalgic as they bring back so many memories that I will be treasuring for the rest of my life. I may not be able to bring back the time to experience those moments again, but I always have the opportunity to reminisce about what had happened just by having these pieces of memories found in old photographs.
Maybe in the future, I will be sharing more of my old photos and those present ones too.
I hope you enjoyed reading this! Have a great time, friends!

Love,
Ruby

Note:
All photos are mine and were captured using my Chronos Ace Plus SKK Mobile when I was in JHS.

It's good you were able to recover these old photos with an adapter for your card. I have one of these too, fit's in a USB drive, but accepts SD and micro SD cards. Welcome to Hive and the ASEAN Hive Community by the way. Do you have a smartphone that you can take pictures with for new content? If you have that and access to the internet via data or wi-fi, you've already got everything you need to be successful here.

Yes, I already have a new one which I can use to take photos for future contents. Thank you, by the way.
