During my stay in Penang, one of the place that I visited was the Mohabath Pasembor stall at Padang Brown Food Court in Georgetown. Mohabath Pasembor is well known for its delicious pasembor.
Pesembnor is a Malaysian-Indian salad dish consisting of various ingredients such as vegetables, hard-boiled eggs, tofu, and fritters, all topped with a rich sweet and spicy peanut sauce. Another specialty offered at Mohabath Pasembor is the mee sotong sambal.
After wrapping up my first day of training, I headed back to the hotel to freshen up and get a bit of rest. Precisely at 7:30 PM, I start my journey to Padang Brown. Although there were plenty of pasembor stalls near the hotel, I was eager to try Mohabath Pasembor. On top of that, I need to travel for 30 minutes by bike.
Navigating the busy streets of Penang was more manageable on two wheels, making the ride quite smooth despite the horrible traffic congestion. By the time I arrived at Padang Brown, it started raining heavily. Thankfully, I had reached my destination just in time.
The Mohabath Pasembor stall is located in the center of Padang Brown Food Court, making it almost impossible to miss. Upon arriving, I walked up to the stall to handpick the dishes for my pasembor.
Honestly, I don’t remember what items I had chosen. I know I took a prawn, some type of fishcake or fishball, and some fried tofu. The total cost for the pasembor, excluding drinks, was MYR 35.
I had a hard time finishing the Pasembor because the portion was enough to feed two persons. It was delicious thou. In January 2025 I will be going to Penang again for a company kick-off. Most probably I will revisit Mohabath Pasembor. But, next time I will bring my friends together to experience the famous pasembor
Looks so yummy! I am actually there right now and went to Padang Brown but it was closed. Went yesterday again but still closed except for one shop. Do they open only on certain days?
It was really delicious 🤤🤤. As far as I know, the stall only closes every Monday.
Sounds great! Oh I see.. thanks for the info. I guess I can try it next time when I go to Penang again.
