Sightseeing in Penang

in ASEAN HIVE COMMUNITY4 days ago

Last month, I traveled to Penang for my company’s annual kick-off meeting. During my time there, I took the opportunity to explore the surrounding area. The photograph that I took was captured within the Lebuh Farquhar vicinity.

Lebuh Farquhar is one of the major roads in Penang, and home to several historical landmarks, including the Eastern & Oriental Hotel, where our company’s event was held.

We made a move from Kuala Lumpur at 10 am and arrived at Penang exactly at 3 PM. Once arrived at Penang, we stopped by the famous Hameediyah Restaurant for late lunch. The menu is, of course, the Penang nasi kandar.

This is my third time there, and on the previous visit, the food was great. However, for this visit, the food was not as great as before. I get a feeling that something is missing. But I couldn't pinpoint exactly what it was.

After having our lunch, we went to the Eastern and Oriental Hotel to check in. This hotel is well known for its distinctive colonial design, that showcases its old-world elegance and prestige. I learned during my visit that the hotel has been in existence for over 140 years.

I feel that the hotel should be included as one of Penang’s most treasured heritage sites. Overall, the trip was a fulfilling experience. Even though just for a short duration, I was able to occupy myself in the unique atmosphere of Penang City.

One dish that truly caught my attention and made me even more excited to visit was the pandan chicken. Its aromatic fragrance, perfectly wrapped presentation, and mouthwatering taste made it an absolute must-try for me. The thought of experiencing this culinary delight in such a stunning location only added to my excitement.

The pandan chicken at the restaurant was delicious. The price tag is on the high side. But is it worth it 😁

The large painting enhances the restaurant's artistic charm. Oh wow! the hotel is 140 years? that's amazing! You're right they should include it in their heritage sites.

The painting does add a premium vide to the restaurant. Yeah, it is 140 years old. I was also surprise when I hear that 😅

I was really amazed when i read your post 😗 I hope they will preserve the hotel 😊

You have a great photos and it seems you have a great day spent at Penang. Though a short time only, you took what's the significance about the City.

I'm glad your trip to Penang. I can't get enough of Penang nasi kandar. We do have nasi kandar in Kuala Lumpur, but the taste is much better and unique in Penang 😁

The street near Georgetown looks really beautiful with those lanterns. They made the road look more livelier. And gosh the Seaview, I'll hangout in that spot if I'm in there.
