#146 Challenge: Hammock Hangin' For Relaxing Moments

in ASEAN HIVE COMMUNITY2 days ago (edited)

.

Morning blessings everyone! It's a pleasant day today because it's not too hot because of the previous night's rain. My daughter and her hubby went out earlier to avoid the heavy traffic. I watched over my 3-year old grandson who was still fast asleep so I slept beside him because I was still sleepy when my daughter told me to transfer to the other room and sleep beside my grandson. We woke up at 10: PM and prepared a kiddy bowl of oatmeal for our breakfast. Afterwards, He wants it to overloaded with powdered milk on top:)

After eating he went to his favourite hummock and watched his favourite anime movie.

Innovative hummock

This innovative hummock was ordered by his mom through online shopping. She said that the common hummock won't fit inside because it's for outside use since it needs wider space.

This hummock design is conducive for indoor use especially for kids. He would let it swing while enjoying his favourite movie.

Rattan Hummock

This is our favourite woven hummock. It's made of native rattan material. It's sturdy and durable. I placed it in our terrace for us to relax while feeling the open air overlooking the majestic Mt. Canlaon Volcano. I like to spend my siesta here.

My grandson likes to play with his mobile here whenever he comes for a visit.

Antonia likes to relax here too. As you may have observed on the two photos, the plants on the backdrop were still small (grandson's) and it has grown taller with Antonia's photo. It means that it has stayed with us for years!

I made a little hummock for our baby too. I used two pillows to create a long hotdog and attached both ends to form an egg shaped hummock with flat pillow as the base with sturdy rope on both sides. Whenever they're at home, they would use his little nest so he won't roll and place him atop our rattan hummock that he would laugh and laugh while swinging him.

It has history

You know guys, time came when I needed to bring it down for cleaning and I decided to repolish it with varnish so I detached it and placed it near our dining table. One night around 2 o'clock AM, I heard lablab, our lady shitzu was barking profusely that I woke up alarmed and got my stick which I always keep behind our doors for safety reasons. I saw lablab jumping like a cat to find out later that she was fighting a snake which was attacking her. She couldn't run because she was leashed. I came to the rescue and threw broken tiles to the snake to divert its attention. It started to back out and flew on the closed door but it couldn't escape. Like any cornered animal, it begun to rise with its neck expanding which made my head numb. I thought I was going to have a heart attack right at that moment! I said to myself, Oh my God, it's a king cobra! I aimed for it's head but it was impossible because there was a barrier. It was a blessing in disguise that hummock was right there on the floor and kicked it to shield my feet just it case it attacked me. When it was about to attack, I raised my 'shield' and immediately smashed the middle part of its body that it looked pained and vomited 8 rats. That was the right time for me strike the head! I was thankful for Lablab's bravery and thankful I had used our hummock as my shield. You see guys, I cleaned and brushed it then I applied varnish on it. I talked to my hummock while brushing it as if it can hear me. I said "thank you for being there for me". At the same time, I hugged Lablab saying my thanks to her as well!

From Germany with love

At last, our Christmas package from Germany which was sent by Antonia's mom arrived after four months! It arrived late but it's okay. Better late than never! Among the stuffs were outdoor camping materials. My kids like to go mountain trekking or island hopping that's why we're loaded with different sizes of tents and hummocks. My eldest son have the knitted twines as his hummock and he used to tie it above the big branches on top the trees along with his friends who were mountain guides.

Antonia tried it in front of our lawn.

She said that she would love to have a mosquito met next time. Hmmm, yeah why not? That will be for our next project.;)

And this cute hummock will be my next target!

Yes, he loves it. Originally, her mom used blankets to make a duyan when he was younger. She would tie it on the window frame and she would hold the other end and swing it while he's inside. He would giggle while enjoying his 'free ride'. As he grew heavier, his mom decided to order online. The design is space saving too.
Thanks for the visit dear

On a hot day, relaxing in a hammock feels like a breath of fresh air. The gentle sway and cool breeze provide a peaceful escape, filling you with refreshing oxygen and calming your mind.

Indeed my friend. We live in a cold weather like Baguio so relaxing in our terrace is heaven. It can be hit in the afternoon but the wind is still cold and fresh to the feeling that when your back touches hummock sends you to a deep slumber....:)

Thank you for dropping by friend!

That's what grannies are for!:),taking care of them while their parents are working for their family. He like it there because he doesn't want to be 'disturbed'. Lol! At his age, he already knows where to scan where YT kids apps are despite the overloaded apps on the top screen. He learned to shift to other more mature anime movies as he grew older.Thr height was adjusted according to his height so he could go down all by himself.
It's a pity that lablab died at the age of 11 yrs old and I was not there. I used to put her on that hummock after her bath to dry her fur. The hummock saved my life really. It pays to be alert in times like this and most importantly, your presence of mind or else you will end up dead.
Late deliveries are expected during Christmas seasons but the waiting is over and it's all worth it. Maybe we'll have outing this summer and bring along our hummocks too
Thank you for your time dear. God bless!
