The above animals are called "King-Kong" in the Khmer language, and they aren't native to Cambodia at all, so I really am not sure how they are worked into traditional folk tales.
While this may be a bit of a surprise, it is true that we see similar scenes in the parks of this region. They are kept in my mind very easily to attract everyone's attention and to create an opportunity to enjoy something different.
However, I can at least say that your travel posts are good, I like them.
