Hello everyone!
Hope all are safe and well!
In the Philippines, there's something magical about December mornings. It's because of a special tradition called Misa de Gallo or Simbang Gabi. It's a series of nine early dawn masses from December 16 to 24, leading up to Christmas.
Misa de Gallo means Rooster's Mass in Spanish. A long time ago, Spanish friars started these dawn masses for farmers who began their day early. Over the years, it turned into a beloved Filipino tradition that represents hope, joy, and excitement for Christmas.
This year, I am blessed to attend the first day of Misa de Gallo at the Basilica del Sto. Niño in Cebu with my boyfriend. Picture a peaceful morning, a mix of cool air and spiritual warmth, as we joined others in this special event.
People believe that if you complete all nine days of these dawn masses, you get a special wish granted. It adds a beautiful layer of faith and hope to the Christmas season.
The Basilica del Sto. Niño in Cebu is an old and meaningful place. It stood tall and majestic as we all gathered, creating a sense of reverence and spirituality.
Misa de Gallo is not just about religion; it's part of our Filipino culture. Families come together during these early hours, making memories and passing down traditions. There's also delicious Filipino food to enjoy during this time.
Each mass during Misa de Gallo is a chance to think about life and start fresh. The teachings remind us to be thankful for what we have and guide us through life's challenges.
Apart from prayers, Misa de Gallo also reminds us about sharing and caring for others. Many communities organize events to help those who are less fortunate.
As I think back to the first day of Misa de Gallo, I'm filled with gratitude and a sense of spiritual joy. This tradition captures what Christmas is all about – hope, joy, and celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ.
May this special time bring warmth to our hearts and homes, creating a sense of togetherness that goes beyond the holiday season.
Have a Blessed Monday everyone! 😀😀😀💖💖💖
Thank You Lord for the blessings and love!
Be grateful in every little/simple things and you’ll find happiness you ever wanted! 😀😀😀
Everyday is worth to be grateful of!
Praying for the safety and wellness of all.

That is the best part of December, Attending Simbang Gabi or Misa De Gallo. That is true, this is already kind of of Filipino especially for Catholics and I.F.I traditions. 😊 Complete the 9 days of Simbang gabi and if you complete it, make a wish. 😁
