Hello, everyone! Hey, it's another rushed post because I just saw the challenge last night and remembered to participate few hours ago. So the ASEAN Hive Challenge for this week, "Origami Odyssey", is to share an origami you know.
What I'm going to share with you is my most favorite origami, the Heart Money Origami.
For a short background, the heart money origami was taught by my cousin to my sister when their family went for a vacation in the Philippines around two decades ago. My sister happily shared to me what she learned from our cousin and since then, the process of making this origami has been stuck in my brain.
And now I am glad to have the opportunity to share it here!
So here's what you'll need:
All you need is a paper bill and a 1-Peso coin.
NOW LET'S BEGIN!!!!
Fold the edges to make an "X" shaped fold. Do this for both ends of the paper bill.

And then push the sides inward to form a triangle. Do this too on the other end.

This is how it should look like.

Then fold each side again to form an "X" shaped fold on the middle.
Then push the sides inwards just like how you did to form the triangle on the previous step. The origami should look like a diamond.

And then fold from the longest edge to form another triangle. Then unfold in half just like what is shown on the gif above.

Take a flap and fold towards the middle forming a smaller triangle. Do this on the remaining three flaps.

Now open each flap and press it from the center to form a square. You should have four little squares on the middle after doing this step.

Then fold half of the square to the center forming two triangles, just like when you make an airplane. Do this on all squares.

Open those thin triangles and press the center of the edge to form tiny triangles. Do this for the rest of the thin triangles.

And then take the flap under and fold it down to reveal the heart shape.

Then give the sides a little fold to complete the shape of the heart!

The final step is to insert a coin in the middle.

And it's done!!!
TADA!!!
Making this is actually easy. I was around second or third grade when my sister taught me this origami and so it should be very easy, even kids can do it!

I think this would be a sweet gift, but of course, you can always use an origami paper or any paper that would have the same size as the paper bill so the coin would still fit.
Thanks to this challenge because I am able to make it again after soooo many years. I can't remember the last time I've folded one. I hope you can follow the steps and try it too! Don't forget to mention me if you did because I want to see it too! Thank you! :)
(Please don't mind my nails. Don't worry I'm cutting them tonight. 😆)
Thanks for reading! 💚
@straykat wow! I learned something today. It was so cute. But the money was so stressed hahaha joke! I'll try to make this one surely my kids will love it.
Haha yeah the money will look stressed after. Maybe cut a paper same as the size of money just to be safe since you're trying it with kids. 😅 good luck and enjoy!
The heart origami is so cute, I tried making one, and I was so happy because even though it wasn't perfect, I made it. Now I know how to make another origami. I will practice more in making this one. Thank you for sharing.

Wow! I'm surprised! 🤩 You did great on your first try actually ☺️👏 Thanks for trying it! 💕
Thank you!
Thank you @straykat for sharing this origami technique in designing the paper money. I can also use this origami in folding colored papers. I will teach my son this kind of origami, and I'm sure he will love it, since he enjoys art.
Yes! You can definitely use colored papers as substitute to paper bills. I hope you and your son will have a great time trying this origami. Thank you. ☺️🩷
