Its been weeks since I posted about our lolo's front yard farm featuring his dragon fruit . And now the time has finally come, ripe fruit are now starting to show. Today we picked the first batch of ripe fruits, it's still little but for sure in the coming days there will be more.
The first fruits come in different sizes some are big ,some are small, despite that it taste sweet no matter what the size is.
Picking them is kinda hard specially those that are placed in the tip . Since they are plated in a slope reaching them is not easy. Because of this some fruits are not properly picked resulting to some skin left in the stem.
After picking a few , I Immediately head home with my share of the harvest, I got 4 pieces of different sizes. The color doesn't look like the one we see in the market with bright pinkish red color , this have still green colors in it's skin. But when we open them it's fully ripe inside.
Now here comes the best part the taste test, We have a slightly cold weather here in our place , and many believed that it is not as sweet compared to those planted in warmer areas.
When I tasted It , is is sweet just like those that we planted in the lowlands, so I guess as long as it receives enough sun, the taste will be still the same.
So I continued eating , what I love about this fruit is it help in having a better digestion. I am planning to plant my own dragon fruit once our land in the lowlands will be properly improved and hoping I get the same result.
So I guess this ends my sharing of the first gather of lolos dragon fruit, I hope you liked it.
Have a good day ,see you in the next one!
Farming is Life!
I've read from Rural Rising, they have some device that measures the sweetness level of dragonfruits. From 1-20, 20 being the sweetest.
I knew it! I have seen this plant that looks like a cactus on the roofs of Asian businesses. I am from Venezuela, it is not a fruit that you see here as something common.
I had the impression that it was the dragon fruit. But, I was not sure because it is not a fruit that I knew was here in Venezuela.
And now with your post I realize that I'm not wrong. Awesome, there are Asian fruits closer than I thought.
WOW dragon fruit, it is tasty and nutritious fruit, you can harvest the fruit from your garden, that is amazing
