We’re safe!

I was 5 months old when a super typhoon, Ruping, struck Cebu. I have no memory of it. So I can say Odette was my first super typhoon experience. First Category 5 experience.

Yes, we’re spared from Odette’s direct wrath. It’s the after-effect that we felt so much. No electricity, no water, no internet, intermittent to no cellular signal, and shortage of food for some. Gas stations are packed with kilometer-stretched lines of cars.

Despite the preparations, there were still unexpected effects of Odette.

We have damaged houses and cars. Roofs were ripped off and glasses were shattered. Some cars got crushed by tree branches. Trees were uprooted. One huge “Magtalisay” tree in our place got uprooted

Our seawall was also ravaged by Odette. Boulders of the seawall reached the road and affected a lot of motorist.
Ships ran aground. Good thing the ships weren’t washed away in the residential areas.

As we traveled to the city, we also witnessed how they were impacted.
There were a lot of fallen trees that caused a lot of traffic.

Ravaged gates, ripped off roofs of hardwares stores, and panels of SM Seaside fell apart.

In South Reclamation Properties(SRP), another ship ran aground. Cargo containers were sent flying. Electric post bowed down, still causing a lot of traffic since motorist are forced to share one side of the road.

In Lapu Lapu City, I witnessed the houses of neighboring communities ravaged by Odette. Roofs and walls were ripped off and torn down.

These pictures were taken from my condo.

These are just a glimpse of the physical effects of super typhoon Odette, that I was able to document. There are a lot more damages posted in social medias. This is just Talisay City, Cebu City, and Lapu Lapu City. Odette passed over a lot of cities and provinces in the Philippines. How much more on other places.

Apart from these physical damages, several people experienced emotional trauma. Help us pray that people affected by the super typhoon can recover from both physical and emotional traumas.

I'm glad you guys were okay. That morning, after the typhoon, there was no way to communicate. We had no idea about the severity of the typhoon. The photos are sad views, but this will all pass.

I know Cebu will come back stronger! ❤

Yeah a lot of our relatives outside Cebu were also worried.
Yes yes #bangonCebu #weHealAsOne

Thank God you're safe. Bahala na ang damages. Makabangun ra lagi ta ani. Cebuanos pa kaha? Dasig lang. #BangonCebu

As far as I can remember, kaning #BangonCebu kuyug ni sa #BangonBohol ug #BangonSugBohol tungud atung 2013 earthquake nga nasundan ni Typhoon Yolanda. Maynta mubalik ni. Nag-concert-for-a-cause mi atu sa Ayala ug SM. I would gladly participate again para lang matabangan ang nanginahanglan.

These photos are heartbreaking Louie. As much as I would like to appreciate how beautiful these photos were captured but the stories and terror behind it is just devastating.

Those shipping containers are evidence of the force of the winds generated. Also, I am impressed that the tiny little building next to the water has walls still intact. It is like a roll of the dice, I hope utilities are restored as soon as possible so the rebuilding process can begin.
